Thought it was just me who noticed that !!

This jumping into and out of "love" with teams / drivers / team principals / engineers
is so much like watching a soap opera and the lead actors jumping into and out of bed
with each of the other actors!! It's almost incestuous, for pity's sake!!

Do you want to bet £100 that I can prove Lewis alone has more fans than at least 1 F1 team?
To simple minded folk the term bigger will always be applied to what is obvious. The reality is depending on the context, things can be said that sound outlandish but can be followed by some who see things at more than a literary level

A famous example is the Beatle who said they were bigger than Jesus, to which the simple folk went crazy, but in the context he was talking about.....

my daughters grandma on her mums side is from Ireland, and thats actually where tartan and kilts come from in the first place so no worries from me

Re: Kilts - that's one theory, but it's certainly never been proven, and won't ever be, there's equally evidence that kilts could have originated with the Romans, Scandinavians or other potential central European areas.

Re: Tartan - That's almost certainly not true, the vast bulk of the evidence suggests that Tartan originated in central Europe.

Re: Ron Dennis - like him or loathe him, he's a character that's good for F1, and someone who knows how to win races and championships. I hope he takes a real hands-on role with the F1 team!

Re kilts and tartan, you cannot argue against both coming to Scotland directly from Ireland. Maybe in first place is wrong term, maybe in the previous case better, anyway the point is that Ireland has a greater claim in both than Scotland. Bagpipes?

You do realize that those numbers are not based on a "scientific method", right?
First of all, you don't know if people following either of those two entities have more
than one twitter account. And, yes, I do know of people who have more than one, just
like they have more than one email address for different purposes (i.e. personal, work).

Secondly, you're looking at a very specific demographic (on-line users) to determine
who is more ""popular" of the two, which negates those fans (of either) who do not
bother with tweeting and by virtue of that alone, you're augmenting the importance
of that very specific demographic of F1 fan who can't live without tweeting!

You may counter argue that it's a "good" indication; but, we'll have to agree to disagree!

Sagi58, you have just put up a sound argument about the inadequacy of measuring methods for who is more popular, Lewis or a team. So we are debating something, which is all good

A bit different from a one line dismissal of any debate on 'delusional' grounds

Although it is a team sport, the fans follow drivers more than teams if the raw numbers are to go by.

Talking about drivers, the history of F1 is filled with larger than life legends of racing. Probably most famous is the Brazilian Ayrton Senna, who died in the San Marino Grand Prix in 1994. F1 is dominated by some charismatic and talented drivers, making it fun for the spectator to follow their annual progress in the F1 Championships.

Many casual observers will have heard of Hamilton more than most other teams. And so in the absence of any further proof i think its safe to say that the argument that Lewis is bigger than an F1 team in terms of fans and followers has been proven

With Lewis' popularity and with Paddys skills and reputation, the 2 of them could probably raise the cash to buy out and run their own team. Like Prost, Stewart, Lauda and others in the past
F1 is a complicated business and the top stars can do these things where the bottom stars have to pay to drive

It can be hard to get ones head around it
