I don't think it does. if they have got another title sponsor it just punctuates it more and that the team have just not exchanged one for another.

looks like a season of saying "Which Mclaren is that?"

What say you Sagi58? Do you think Mclaren will change their FB name twice in a week?

Not sure what difference it would make to me, I don't have a FB page! :P
If pressed, I'd say they would/could change it, to accomodate sponsors!

Vodaphone Mclaren Mercedes didn't change the FB name even once for years, not even after the Vodaphone sponsorship ended recently. They have a new car and sponsor to reveal on the 24th, but they change the name on 20th?
The website has changed from VMM to MM, a whole new makeover, I guess they will makeover that as well again
All makes a lot of Mclaren sense

Doesn't make sense....how often would the fans visit a fan page anyway. Changing their name...doesn't this affect facebook's SEO and their merchandise marketing, it would be stupid to change their name just for the reason you're stating (though I get your point).

Normally a team likes to punctuate the fact that they have managed to replace the biggest title sponsor straightaway, demonstrating their worthiness to stakeholders. I am not sure they want to punctuate the fact that there have been no new title sponsors for an F1 team for years and the bravado with which they announced the replacement last year wasnt the same type that Lotus, Sauber, Williams etc have had whilst chasing for one

They will be easy to differentiate by the fact that one of them will have a driver in it squealing about the rookie and asking the pitwall to 'call him off, please guys'

Because you can see that out on track

You can see a fast aggressive car and a slow lamer one, a bit like Button and Perez last year. Didn't need helmets to spot Sergio's style

That was button at his worst for me. Whinging and whining because Sergio was faster. And his, 'what's he doing?' As he put Lewis in the wall. Closely followed by the ' I didn't hear the message to turn down engines and stop fighting' or words to that effect, Turkey was it? can't remember.
I await with interest the Mag version of this saga........... Mag, I hope you're made of stern stuff!!

I predict a lot of quacking and squealing from car 22, especially around the corners as Mag torque steers past

http://www.fia.com/2014-fia-f1-world-championship-entry-list

Official entry list for 2014. McLaren are to be called McLaren Mercedes so I guess thats McLaren for title sponsor :director:

The only teams with real (not connected to the team) title sponsors are RBR - Infinity and Merc - Petronas. Force Indias Sahara are part owners so that doesnt count.

This confirms the trend of fewer sponsors seen since 2008, with the only major sponsors going trackside with FOM and not the teams.

If McLaren had managed to buck that trend (must have been really attractive coming 5th) they would not be doing an online car/sponsor launch and would not b changing their FB page 4 days before

Funnily enough the McLaren F1 company is still called Vodaphone McLaren ltd

what I do not get is, why not change the page name now? why wait until the 24th either way

They have recently changed the FB page and their website. Because Viodaphone left at the end of last year and they need to do it before the next season starts. The reason to have waited would be because they are announcing a title sponsor at the car unveiling on 24th (which is what they promised last December)
As soon as they are sure they do not have a sponsor to reveal then it makes sense to change the details, waiting till 24th would be embarrassing as they would have to explain themselves. This way they can change things quietly and hope no one notices. The 24th is just a new car unveil, no big change of sponsor and relaunch of brand etc
