I like you, Cookin, so I am going to do you a favour. EVERY time you use the word "peerless" in the wrong context, like this:
...yet he still believes his lead driver is PEERLESS when it comes to technical feedback...

I will remind you of Whitmarsh's EXACT words:
Martin Whitmarsh wrote:">ImageOriginal quote/context

[Button is] peerless in his ability to read a race...

Sometimes Sagi58, it pays to look before you leap (unless your name is Michael Jordan) :whip:

Martin Whitmarsh wrote:">ImageOriginal quote/context

“Jenson's race-winning speed, intelligence and racecraft have long been a crucial advantage to McLaren, but it's his skill as a development driver and his peerless technical feedback that will be equally valuable as we make the transition into a new and complex technical formula during the winter and new year.

Let me know if you want to be reminded of any more EXACT words :yikes::whip:

Life is grey, if you're not wearing rose tinted glasses! :P

So back on topic, Whitmarsh thinks Button is PEERLESS at 2 different aspects of F1 racing.
PEERLESS = Better than anyone else without doubt, superior, has no equal, unrivaled among his peers, head and shoulders above all the rest
Button can read a race better than any driver on the grid and his technical feedback is better than any driver on the grid

So Sagi58, why do you think Whitmarsh says these things about Button when its painfully clear to the average moron that its not true? (McLaren would not need Alonso if this was even halfway true)

What is your opinion on this mystery?

Whitmarsh describes Button so flatteringly because that's his opinion of the driver!

 wrote:">Opinion

opin·ion noun \ə-ˈpin-yən\

: a belief, judgment, or way of thinking about something : what someone thinks about a particular thing

: advice from someone with special knowledge : advice from an expert

: a formal statement by a judge, court, etc., explaining the reasons a decision was made according to laws or rules

How did Whitmarsh form his opinion? No clue! Worse, I couldn't care less how it came about!
Sorry!

Edit: Actually, I'm not sorry! :whip:

Dont you think its important for a team principal to have professional opinions that are not half baked?

Do you think his judgement could be distorted by his 'hots' (disturbing feelings) for Button?

Kevin will be rockin' out next year and you all will see! YEAH! GO MAG! GO MAG!

Sad state of affairs when even the McLaren fans are pulling for the rookie instead of the team leader even before the season starts.

First of all, even professional opinions are personal and subjective.

Yes, it's important for the Team Principal to be unbiased, to an extent; but, then
how does he build a strong rapport with his drivers, if he keeps them at bay?

Anything can distort/impact an opinion. Since I don't know Whitmarsh personally
nor do I follow his every move/comment, with such keen interest, I can't really
offer an opinion on what has formed his!

You seemed to have an opinion earlier when you jumped in feet first
... If I went into Donald ducks and asked for my big mac to be made more spicy by adding cheese then it would be my lack of proper feedback

I see where you are coming from though, so all the engineers at BAR, Honda, McLaren are all guys who get an order for no cheese and always make the mistake of adding extra for one guy, but get it right for all other customers :yikes:

Maybe the cheese was off that day because it was past its "best before date"! :P
Maybe the other customers are lactose and don't know the difference because they haven't had a Big Mac with cheese!! :P

A bit of consistency would be appreciated

I purposefully used the word "maybe" to indicate there maybe other reasons than the one you proposed.
I was not offering an opinion, just more options! :P

Ok so Whitmarsh says button is the best at reading races, and is the best at technical feedback and is one of the fastest drivers on the grid despite being out qualified by Sergio.

Some of us are of the opinion that this somewhat naive belief is not supported by facts ( button was voted 10th by tps) and therefore points to a disturbing bias which has so far trashed the team.

As you have no opinion on the matter perhaps you could let us know next time when you are just injecting random objections you have not thought about clearly. On the McLaren thread things affecting the team are taken deadly seriously

Are you saying I'm not welcome to present the possibility of an opinion that is not in full agreement with your own, just because this is the McLaren thread?

p.s. A word to the wise, taking things too seriously will give you an ulcer, especially if they are not within your control to change!
