Not based on anything evidential, but I have a feeling .....

I wouldnt worry Mr Allan - thats what I base most of my F1 opinions / predictions / feelings on. :hehe:

if it's an intense burning feeling, there's an ointment for that.

Maybe I'm being overly positive, but I'm feeling the opposite way to what seems to be the majority. Not based on anything evidential, but I have a feeling that the Alonso / Kimi partnership will actually work, and I think they might just be back at the very sharp end in 2014 and win a good few races. In fact, I think that this might be the most I've looked forward to seeing how a new driver pairing works for a large number of years, likely since I looked forward to (and was subsequently sadly disappointed by) Schumacher and Barrichello in 2000, or possibly Damon Hill and Ralf Schumacher at Jordan in 1998. :)

I remember really looking forward to Raikkonen and Montoya at McLaren in 2005. Shame how it turned out...

Lol I didn't look forward to that one bit since I was rightly p!ssed off with McLaren giving DC the boot. And the partnership fizzled.

Just like how I was even more p!ssed off with McLaren hiring my most disliked driver in F1 history, Mr Fonz...and again what a fizzle we had that year. :D

I wonder if they both get one if they win the WCC or it only applies to whoever might win the WDC. Hopefully at least one LaFerrari will be delivered to either Fernando or Kimi sometime in 2014 :cloud9:

This is the £1million Ferrari supercar Fernando Alonso and Kimi Raikkonen have been promised if they land next season’s Formula One title.

LaFerrari, which was launched earlier this year by the Italian giants, boasts a top speed of 220mph, and can reach 60mph in less than three seconds.

Alonso and Raikkonen, who is rejoining Ferrari after he acrimoniously split with the team in 2009, will form a new-look partnership at the Italian manufacturer next season.

And the pair have been handed an extra incentive to win Ferrari’s first drivers’ title since Raikkonen stormed to glory in 2007 by laying claim to only one of only 499 limited edition models made by the Prancing Horse.

Alonso has helped test and contributed to the engineering of LaFerrari, which was officially unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in March.

The Spaniard took the £1million machine for a spin around Ferrari’s home track Maranello in August, and judging by the grin on his face, he’ll be keen to land one on a permanent basis.

Ferrari president Luca di Montezemolo, who is hosting an annual media lunch on Thursday, specifically handpicks who should buy the 220mph car with candidates only eligible for the new supercar if they already own five Ferraris.

LAFERRARI STATS
0-60mph - Under three seconds
0-125mph - Seven seconds
Top speed - 217mph
Engine specification - 6.3litre V12, electric motor & KERS Power - 789bhp

Why 499 and not 500?

Production numbers govern which types of races you enter. I know some classes require production be over 500, so it's tied to that, just don't know enough details.

Maybe less than 500 means it is a prototype?

Omnicorse has reported that the LaFerrari test mule has been back on track at Fiorano and apparently the team is looking to run it at Mugello.

I have no doubts now that it is the 059/3 engine on board.

With Luca's recent statements about Ferrari returning to LeMans racing I believe Ferrari are really evaluating their racing program for the long term future. The F1 budget caps will free up quite a lot of capital for Ferrari to invest elsewhere and LeMans, which has no caps, is a very likely candidate. In many ways, LMP racing is more global already and if F1 becomes a pseudo Indycar prescriptive competition then Ferrari may let Corse Clienti run their F1 program while they become more active in the LMP arena.

The flow of "talk" about Ferrari returning to LMP1 continues .....

Antonello Coletta, the head of Ferrari's sports car racing program suggesting that the new ACO regulations could help Ferrari decide to return .... and...

Mark Webber tweeting that Nando and the Doctor might partner at LeMans in a Ferrari prototype as early as 2015.

Been a long time between drinks for an Italian team in LMP1

Maybe it is also the sideways step that a certain F1 team principle needs to make without loosing face

Bingo, but talk to divert attention is one thing, actually turning up to race the likes of Porsche, Audi and Toyota is a sure fire way of getting ones arse handed to them even quicker than in F1

Theres a reason ferrari have stuck mainly to F1 all this time - vetos and special assistance

I would put any money on the fact that Ferrari in LMP1 manufacturers will not beat any of the above for a few years. They would need to be even more tech savvy and forward looking than they are struggling to be now
