Nikon answer these questions

A. did Heikki ask for the car?

B. if he did would Ron tell him to piss off?

look past all the crap and these are the underlying factors to take in.

Well, Bud... can you answer those questions?

I can't. All I know is what is actually published, and that is making me feel the way I've expressed. I don't know if Heiki showed interest for the car, I don't know if Ron sent him for a walk. What I do know is that Ron didn't say anything like "... but of course, same deal works for our second driver, whoever he turns out to be".

But honestly... which full-blooded F1 pilot would not be interested in such car..? We are talking about Heiki, THE PILOT... bot the garbage truck driver...

there you go Nikon, the media story was about Lewis not Heikki as Lewis was the one who posed the question to Ron.
If a journo was to pose a the question to Ron if Heikki can have the car if he wins the title do you honestly think Ron would say no he cant?

i still cant believe this topic has generated so many replies, and i dont see people whinging about any other teams so called team favourites.

Geee, you would make a top-dog lawyer

But one thing you're right about; it is all about Lewis. It seems always to be about Lewis because, I'm very certain, the issue of Heiki liking to have such prize if he wins will never be brought up. Maybe Heiki knows his place in the team. Maybe he simply does not have a habit of pushing limits (like some spoiled children do with their parents - please note I haven't mentioned anyone by name). At the end of this little discussion we had, the whole McLaren seems to be about Lewis lately, and we can play with words much as we like to, but FOR ME remains that I don't like what I see.

As I said, hopefully things will clear up after Ron decides to retire.

racechick I think you just don't get it.
It is not that we just don't like hammy. More to the point is that you cannot accept anyone elses opinion as possibly having any merret becuase it is about your beloved hammy & McLaren and it could NOT possible be correct.

Get over it racechick because thats life.
But don't worry, life's not permenent.

That was a really clever reply-you just repeated what i said
1)I often accept other people's opinions if they are sensible and valid and factually correct
2) They are not"my beloved McLaren"!!- Lewis maybe
3) "we dont like hammy"- who is we? I was talking to Nikkon.
4) merit

That was a bit under the belt, you know...

I'm not saying all this because I don't like LH. On the contrary - I don't like much LH because of all this.

If you can recall, I was believing relation between Ron and Lewis was a reason - one of them, at least - that triggered Alonso disaster. And I see that relation developing further. I just hope it will not develop into full blown Todt - Schumacher "romance".

While I still like Ron, I'm coming to conclusion he is not capable of accepting and learning from his own mistakes.

Hope I'm wrong. Now shall we end this..?

I guess it was a bit below the belt, sorry about that.
Ron is obviously very proud of Lewis and has a relationship with him that is more than just worker boss. This is inevitable given the circumstances and history that goes back several years. However it does not extend to favours on the track and everyone concerned knows about that.
Ron's sponsorship of Lewis was something of an experiment when he recognised extraordinary talent and commitment in the boy. To see that translate to success must be gratifying for him. Why knock him over it? He has now set up a scheme to help chuildren globally try to achieve their dreams. He means well and is honest which is more than can be said for the slimeball who tried to ruin him last year.

I agree with a lot of what you are saying racechick, but Ron Dennis has twice in the space of week made comments which, whether or not he meant them to, have sounded like he is favouring Lewis Hamilton and knocking Heikki Kovalainen. Ron Dennis needs to be more careful about what he says.

You see this little arguement between the Mclaren and Ferrari fans, is one of the MANY reasons why I am glad to be a BMW fan. ...No arch rivals that want to have you convicted of heresy and later be hanged. ahh life is great

Believe me Rivelution, if BMW win more than two or three races, the Tifosi Tarts will be burning them at the stake in a heartbeat. They are the latterday Inquisition. Anything but blind obedience to the letter of the Ferrari canonical law can not be tolerated. Whole villages are burned and pillaged in orgies of wanton blood lust by the slavering beasts.
