I wonder how Merc fans would react if their team won the first few races, but the fia changed the rules for safety reasons and then they didn't win another race.

Meh, not so bad as long as they'd beat Ferrari at the end of the season. It was a nice feeling, one could get used to.

As an Aussie, you are taught very early on that is ok to come 3RD last - as long as England and New Zealand are behind.

No, if you go back 2 years how many fans did Mercedes have? They start doing well and low and behold they are all coming out of the wood work.

:scratchchin: I was a McLaren fan primarily because of their powerplant. (Since my fav road car during the 90s was the W123)...and now the works team since my fav driver has joined them, along with the fact that the most powerful company in my country is their partner. :D

But when you think about it....how many fans did Jaguar have? Before it became Redbull....and look at their fan base now. :hehe:

Who knew. I have learned a similar version of that lesson, guess it's universal if you're island born or something?

How many of the RBR fans got sucked in when they were the fun team?

They didn't have Lewis two years ago did they. The new fans are Lewis fans. McLaren's loss is Mercs gain. :D

Merc have only been back a few years. Whats important is not how many fans they had on day 1, but how many fans they continue to convert and acquire. They now have the best fans, those who appreciate the best drivers and best engineers and a bit of heritage (like inventing the motorcar, and the all singing all dancing Silver Arrows) doesnt hurt.

In the next couple of years, half the Tifosi and all the RBR fans will be sprechen sie deutsche

And those (few) fans who were there when the team was midgrid and the subject of many a joke, will nod at each other and smile indulgently at the masses who like to support teams dominating the sport for a straight decade :drink:

That is what I mean. Glory hunter fans are the worst by far.

Lets see how many of the die hard RBR fans are left the emd of next year as they are unlikely to be as dominant.

Hold on... Let me get this straight...
We can't be fans of one team otherwise we're accused of being "blind";
nor can we be fans of one driver otherwise we're "glory hunters"?? :confused:

No. That is what he is not saying at all. He is saying is he dislikes the large number of fans that ONLY become fans when a driver / team are being successful. As most of the RedBull fans are. In his opinion.

So... as long as we stick to the same driver / team, win or lose, that's cool? :wink:
