As if this 'episode' wasn't already damaging enough for F1, Max Mosley has reportedly blamed McLaren-Mercedes for a recent tabloid article relating to his alleged extra-curricular experiences, saying the team set him up.

Mosley has a tension-fraught history with the McLaren team, having slapped them with a £50million fine for last year's Stepneygate scandal in what some felt was his own personal vendetta against team boss Ron Dennis.

'Mosley has confided to friends he believes he may have been the victim of a plot by McLaren-Mercedes, who were fined £50million last year for 'spying' on Ferrari, to destroy his career,' reports the Daily Mail.

The newspaper went on to say that Mosley is determined to prove that he was set-up, which is why he has called an Extraordinary Meeting of the FIA.

However, it's not just Mosley who (allegedly) reckons he was set-up.

Bernie Ecclestone's immediate reaction after hearing the news was to say: "I find it difficult to believe. It's his business but it sounds to me like a set-up."

More telling is that BMW team boss Mario Theissen, who after five days to thinking about it, said on Friday that it did appear as if was entrapment.

"What shouldn't be neglected is it certainly looks like a trap," he said. "And that is something which in our view is not acceptable."

if this is true can this guy get any lower

Several things. First, does Mosley have any evidence to suggest this was a plot by McLaren-Mercedes? I suspect not, or perhaps he will invent some saying as he has got a motive. Then he can get McLaren on some trumped up charge and get himself off scott-free. Also, how McLaren have set up Mosley I really don't know. Even if McLaren organised for the Nazi hookers to come to his house, why did Mosley partake in an orgy with them? It's not as though they were compelling him to have umpalumpa with them, nor did Mosley look particularly reticent about having the orgy.

The fact is tabloid newspapers set up important people all the time. Mosley has not been the first, nor will he be the last. Regardless of the tabloid's agenda, Mosley has been exposed for the Nazi bigot he really his, and should be sacked saying as he won't resign. Mosley should not be allowed to get away with this, but clearly he thinks he can. He is having a right laugh at everybody and being allowed to by a corrupt organisation, which, despite almost all Formula One fans being appalled, criticism from drivers and team bosses, and some of the world's largest automotive companies who also take part in the sport, are doing nothing. Mosley still swaggers around knowing he can do whatever he wants whenever he wants and get away with it, making it look as though it was somebody else's fault.

He's a fool if he thinks it was McLaren. Was he set up? Most likely. Did McLaren do it? No. The most logical explanation is that, due to the fact that the British press are so biased towards Hamilton and McLaren, he was set up by the paper. We all know that the British press (and indeed the majority of the public) would butcher anybody who messes with one of their heroes for whatever reason.

^ I'm thinking we should all chip in and hire a hitman... :P

I also think he was set up. But anyway, it's up to the FIA and the board to decide if no matter the situation Max still deserves punishment. But from what the statement from the teams and so on suggest... it will be really hard for him to wiggle out of this one.

I don't believe this. Max just cannot admit when he is done something wrong and take responsibility for his actions. He is now trying to scapegoat Mclaren and twist it to make it look like he is the victim. Tabloid's stay in business by finding & printing sensational stories and just because this one happens to be true Max can't take it. His has been embarrassed an exposed as a hypocrite he should do the honorable thing and resign

I reckon he was set up, but kudos to whoever did it!

It wouldn't be McLaren anyway, how would they know about his umpalumpa life? For people who didn't know him personally he seemed like the most boring man imaginable!

How could McLaren have set up Mosley? And even if they, or anybody else for that matter, did, nobody was forcing Mosley to have a Nazi-themed orgy with the prostitutes. The footage clearly shows Mosley doing the business himself; nobody else from any organisation was there forcing Mosley to partake in the sexual acts. Mosley has nobody to blame but himself. It's disgusting how he's trying to shift the blame onto others and frame them for his own wrongs. After calling the Spanish racist, saying what happened to Senna in 1989 and 1990 was wrong, and after saying McLaren were trying to dodge the truth, Mosley looks like a total hypocrite.

The video was probably part of the package, for which Max paid his £2500. He might have shelves full of them at home. Of course it is the way with these things that sometimes there is "fallout". Seems like one of the hookers, or maybe the photographer, may have decided to write himself/herself a nice fat personal cheque by selling a bootleg copy to the NOTW. Max deserves to be publicly and professionally neutered, he's a low-life, an unprincipled slug with no priorities other than his personal gratification and the humiliation of others. If it sounds like a Nazi and acts like a Nazi, it's probably a Nazi!

It was one of the hookers who filmed it on her mobile phone-which would account for the poor quality of the film and not many pictures of his face. Wether she did it off her own back or was asked to I have no idea. If this were a high tech covert operation, as Max is trying to suggest the camera work would have been much clearer. And however it was filmed, it was Max did the deed! He must have made loads of enamies throughout his life so the probability is that someone commisioned the spying, but he had to have the sordid lifestyle on which to be spied.

ALWAYS looking for excuses or someone to pass the blame on to... I'm surprised he didn't come right out and blame Ron Dennis.
