Bring three compounds and have them use whatever they want, some teams may be able to go a full race distance with a hard compound, others may go three stops with the softest compound, let them have at it...

I agree unconditionally with this!! Teams/drivers should NOT be dictated to when it comes to tire choice!!
Especially NOT by a company who changes tire compounds mid-season, for WHATEVER reason!!

I got it! Teams make their own tyres, bring whichever to the race. Some might make very soft ones, Lotus maybe, they will go further on a faster tyre than another team on a slightly slower one. Red Bull struggle, they need tyres that last longer but go slower, others can beat the in quali, as their cars can run the fast tyres that they make. So teams have completely differen Tyres, which suit their strengths, and the drivers', more amazing strategy races, and no dominance. There will be races like India every weekend. Brilliant. Flawless.

So two weeks to go until Ferrari, Red Bull and Mercedes test the 2014 tires in Bahrain with their 2013 cars.

They were supposed to test them in Brazil... guess there's less chance of rain in Bahrain.

I'm hoping Ferrari can use the information from this test, a long with the LaFerrari/F1 hybrid they are testing at Fiorano to try and catch up on the engine deficit everyone is talking about - 20% is a long way to be behind.

I still fear that fuel will be the new Pirelli in 2014.

What "La Ferrari/F1 hybrid" are you talking about?

The one in this video...

So if they can do that. Can McLaren put it in the P1 and mercedes put it in an SLS. And Red Bull put it in an... Infinity FX Vettel!:rofl::rofl: What a joke of a car.

I'm still not sure/convinced it was the F1 engine in that LaFerrari - just saying that if it was then it was pretty darned clever and I'd hope to see it pounding around the track as often as possible.

Could other teams use other cars? Short answer I'd say yes, but long answer, would be with the qualifier that they would have to have designed and prepared that car a long time ago. I'd imagine you'd have to have ERS and most of the drive train and suspension housed in there as well. Adding that to a car with a strong enough chassis and floor would probably not be something you could achieve in a couple of months.

I don't know what it is about the french language or accent...but I'd never buy a french car, and if it's a french guy selling me a french car I'd be turning away in 5 seconds. Don't get me wrong...I love many things french (food for instance....women) but a CAR.....when I see a french car I see a french sandwich. I'd be afraid if it'd fall apart when I'm driving it out of the showroom.

Short rant...and I'm sorry it's out of topic.

On topic...I wish Pirelli does a (much) better job next year.
