Mercedes have had a fire in their new engine, an oil leak, but it's all ok now and working flat out.

And this is why you don't publish everything like Merc is doing.

Well they didn't publish it voluntarily, did they. They just confirmed something the fire department tweeted.

Its the law to call out the fire brigade when there is a fire. The best time for an oil leak fire would probably be while the engine is in production and testing stage

At least we now know they have a physical engine unlike some

I mean it's a bit embarrassing after going on about how reliable they are and how they've exceeded the distances etc.

Is it?

Then it must be even more embarrassing to buy your engines from a company that are doing so bad at building their engines.... ;)

For someone who supports a team/driver which is going to be powered by this engine next year, you're one hell of a wet blanket.

I'm critical, and less optimistic than you chaps.

I support a team founded in racing, not an automotive conglomerate.

Oh I see. So I guess you are a 'real fan' then - and we are just fools?

I like you Lemon, and the majority of your posts. But some of your posts are a bit.... I dunno. That last line is irrelevant to the convo, and makes you sound highly patronising.

Im sure its all just lost in translation through the keyboard.

I support the F1 racing team, not the Merc brand as a whole. As a conglomerate and road cars I'm all for BMW.....not that any of this matters, but when there is no reason to criticize a brand and you keep doing it, it begs the question why. Any and every engine manufacturer are going to make boasts about what they have achieved, and every one of them will have failures along the way.

Yet I see you mostly in the Merc thread talking unjustified sh*t whenever you can, and it's getting tired.

Isn't Williams a listed corporation trading as an automotive conglomorate. The last time I read their communication to shareholders they suggested as much. In fact they went as far as to point out how they hoped to win contracts for supplying automotive parts to municipal bodies globally.

I think its getting tiring with your not so subtle constant negative digs at Merc and Lewis. And your constant attempts to act as a moderator like in the emimem argument where you made a point of encouraging and agreeing with him just to stir things up

A team supported by a Venezuelan oil company proselytizing Maldonado is okay then? How do you know that the failure didn't occur at the projected end of the engine's life? It it infinitesimally better to catch flaws now than to be chasing them in February. You can dislike the team all you want but to say that Mercedes isn't a team founded in racing sounds like something Andrew would say.

On a side note. I must admit, I take my hat off to Andrew. He finally managed to follow through with his threat to leave. On about the 3rd attempt. I didnt expect him to.

Well done Andrew, if you are reading this.
