I have seen this situation (outside pass attempt) numerous times this year ... Alonso/Hamilton, Hamilton/Alonso, Alonso/Webber, Webber/Alonso, Vettel/Raikkonen .. well you get the point. In all of these cases the driver being passed left room on the outside, as was done here. So what was different on Sunday? In those cases mentioned the driver attempting the pass TOOK the outside space given, sometimes to complete the pass and often to abort the attempt and try again later. Sometimes the attempt came on the next corner. Hamilton may have crowded Bottas, but nothing he did was so sudden or severe to prevent the Finn from taking the appropriate action, moving over and aborting the attempt. Unfortunately he was unwilling to do so. I don't blame Bottas for the attempted pass, but I also don't blame Hamilton for defending. Both drivers wanted the same piece of road .... racing incident = no penalty.
