Button's lap times were far more consistent and faster than perez's when they were both in clean air. Jesus Christ the way you guys act make it sound like Jenson spends his afternoons murdering first born children...

Ridiculous. Why would Perez push as hard as Button when he's protecting position taking care of tyres while Button is chasing position? Obviously 1 car will be told to push harder than the other, you have no idea what Perez could've done if he were to push flat out.

And at the end of the day, who gives two figs who's lap times were faster. Friday morning, they were both equal. Sunday evening, Perez had 6 points. Button had 1 point. Therefore, over the weekend, Perez did much better.

not to mention how much less is Perez' current contract compared to Buttons? he is better value for money when you compare points per every $ earned.

Actually, looking at this a bit closely, how you get to that conclusion. Looking at the two drivers lap times here, it looks to me like Perez was (bar a few laps at the end) consistently faster than Button...

Martin Whitmarsh apparently doesn't look at data before he comments, just like Lemon. :whip:

Button drove better in the race thoug, Perez stated 7th and finished 7th, Button started 15th and finished 10th.

This is a crock of sh*t and you know it....don't you?

I just read Whitmarsh's comments....like f*cking 3 lines about Perez who scored 6x the number of points of "Peerless :duckie:" and a goddamn essay about a duck who couldn't even make Q3 and managed 1 sorry a$$ point.

Whitmarsh is a much bigger threat to McLaren than Button is, it's quite clear to see.

Whats funny is that Button himself was obviously embarrassed, saying 'I need to get my act together' whereas Whitmarsh has no such requirement from his lead driver for 2014.
Sergio drove a solid race and Button was excellent. That is the standard acceptable at McLaren, crashes 4 races in a row, rookie mistakes left right and center, 1 point in a car capable of 7th in the hands of a guy not good enough therefore Button should be expected to get the podium in the same car considering he is a PEERLESS driver

At least he sees he needs to improve, it's a start.

A far cry from the claims he was making at the end of last season.

What I dont get is that to be a team principle, you must of been able to have proved yourself in the passed. But for me Whitmarsh, Boullier, and (the Ferrari guy whose name escapes me at the moment) just seem like wet lettuces

To be fair, Boullier is doing an axcellent job with the resouces available to him. He is in a different league from :duckie: marsh and that dominated fellow at Ferrari
He made the right choices on RoGro and Kimi, is after the Hulk despite weight, has no money and is punching the team above their weight

imagine what he would have done with McLaren

Yeah I have no idea why anyone would not say Boullier is doing a fantastic job. I was thinking the guy's a nobody when he took over Lotus but with the resources at his disposal/level of achievement, Genii Capital would want him around for quite a bit yet. Maybe when he leaves the post he could work at GC itself in valuing potential LBOs. :whip:

I am just saying that I can not imagine him running a multi million pound company.

Here we go, one doesn't have to be Nostradamus to see how next Saxon will go with Peerless Button giving feedback

"I'm annoyed because I feel the car performance has been there on Fridays and Saturday mornings (through practice)," added Button.

"I hoped to be fighting it out for fourth or fifth (in qualifying) in Austin and I ended up 13th, so really weird. I've got to work out why that is because it was the same in Abu Dhabi.

"The pace is definitely there, I just can't extract it in qualifying which is strange."

For Button and McLaren, it is just one more problem to add to the pot when it comes to the troublesome car they have had to deal with all year.

He said: "After the race in Brazil I fly straight to the UK to start work on next year's car.

"That's the exciting part this year, and it will bring closure, so I'm looking forward to that.

"I've already driven the car in the simulator and it's very different.

"It's going to be a long winter for all of us to get to grips with how the car is going to be, where it is now and where it's going to be at the first race.

Just like last winter when his sim feedback was spot on and despite the fact that after the whole season he is unable to extract from the car what his sacked teammate can

If he's good in the sim, when things go as expected and he doesn't have to worry about other cars round him and the wind, why didn't McLaren make him a test driver? Little things affect him in the car, whereas Lewis just drove round them without even noticing them. But maybe in a sim, noticing those little things and feeding back would be a good and helpful thing he could do. Then Kevin and Perez could wring its neck on the track. Wonder why they didn't do that?

The problem is that there is not a sim in existence that has enough data points to replicate the real world. And with 60% wind tunnels and no track testing, anyone can get a sim to feel 'good'

Its the feedback out on track that matters. Someone like Lewis giving feedback means the sim and live feedback can be useful because he can drive round the real life quirks and realities the sim doesnt model. Whereas Button needs an already perfect car to be able to drive well enough to provide the feedback that pushes the car to the edge of its performance envelope

Just as we found at in 2013, his feedback on the sim in the winter was that it was the best car ever, but when it came to the track there was a big gap between the sim and reality. And Button was unable to help close that gap, because in catch 22 style, he was unable to drive it at its (crap) limit

Its the feedback on the track that counts more than ever and with a narrow comfort zone coupled with limited testing every weekend is gonna be a 'I dunno, its strange, something is not right but I dont know what and i have no suggestions, I cant drive it fast enough to help the engineers, I cannot set it up as i dont have a clue'

What happened in the middle of 2012, and that happened all year 2013, is going to happen on an industrial scale in 2014.

'I just dont have any useful feedback because too many variables have changed all at once, and I have a very narrow band of operation'

edit: And just incase anyone is thinking that I am just doing some wishful thinking or that its not possible to know how 2014 will go with Button at the helm, then I would respectfully refer them to everything a few of us Mclaren observers have been saying for a few years and the outcome so far

They're only 246 points behind Mercedes and 451 points behind the leader, at least they're better than 50% of the grid out there I don't see any problem. :hehe:
