Nice find, bud. I'm looking forward to seeing what he can do, especially if McLaren produce a quick car next season.

That could be anyone driving that car. Maybe it is because I am watching it on my phone but to be honest I would of been hard pressed to say it was an f1 car.

Once you get to around 35 seconds, you can see the livery a little better and it certainly looks like a McLaren. You can't see the helmet though, so no, it's not a guarantee that Magnussen is driving it.

I just learned how to use the "Snip it" tool and couldn't wait to use it,
so I tried and got this:

I have to say, this is a risky choice for McLaren. My question is, why did they not just select someone like Di Resta, or even Hulkenberg? To be honest, unless Kevin proves me wrong next year, this is a silly choice from McLaren. Perez was basically a Hamilton filler until they found someone to their liking and if I am going to be honest, unless Kevin does the Lewis Hamilton style he produced in 2007 (Which I doubt), I can't see success from Magnussen next year, if anything, I'd have stuck him in a team like Marussia and see how he does

You couldnt pay for comedy as good as Whitmarsh provides

"Jenson's race-winning speed, intelligence and racecraft have long been a crucial advantage to McLaren, but it's his skill as a development driver and his peerless technical feedback that will be equally valuable as we make the transition into a new and complex technical formula during the winter and new year.

:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl: what happened to it mid year 2012 for about 7 races? What happened to it when he said his leadership had produced the best ever McLaren for 2013? Where was it when he declared the 2012 car the worst ever? Maybe it goes on small vacations along with his grip and balance.

His PEERLESS technical feedback that had to be kickstarted by his teammates technical feedback

This is really too funny, its like a new mr bean film, i expect to see Rowan Atkinson popping up in the McLaren garage to check out some incompetence

More about the PEERLESS technical feedback of Button

"The answer is crucial," Lowe responded when asked by ESPNF1 during the Vodafone McLaren Mercedes phone-in how important Button is for development. "Having a good driver with good feedback is essential still in Formula One even though these days we have far more tools to work with and more simulations etcetera. [b]We are still very reliant on the drivers' feedback for the changes and indeed his suggestions for the changes we make.

"Having Jenson on board for years to come is now a great step, because it [provides] a very solid base in terms of a driver that we can rely on for feedback through that phase that you described [up to 2014]. Jenson obviously is very experienced and was for many years before he even came to McLaren, so that all contributes."

Jenson Button admitted he made a mistake when asking for a change to be made to his McLaren car prior to today's Japanese F1 Grand Prix at Suzuka.

The Frome Flyer decided to take off front downforce but was left lacking in front-end grip for the first two stints of a race in which he finished ninth.

"The first two stints of the race were pretty difficult as I had massive understeer," said Button, who started tenth on the grid.

"That was my fault. On the lap-to-grid, it felt like I had too much front-end, so I took some wing out of the car. It was the wrong thing to do – it left me with too much understeer and I kept locking up the fronts, which destroyed the front tyres.

Last year’s cars, with their exhaust blown diffusers, generated huge amounts of rear end downforce which gave Button the stable rear end he needs. This year’s F1 cars, without the EBD, move around a lot at the back, which Hamilton can live with but Button can’t. The McLaren seemed in winter testing and in the opening races to be reasonably strong at the rear relative to the others in this area, certainly enough for Button to feel good with it in February and March. But perhaps the development of the car since then has taken it away from what works for him. In Montreal he was particularly unlucky that some new directions he was trying out, including in rear suspension didn’t get the long run testing they needed on Friday as he lost most of the day with a drawn-out oil leak and gearbox change saga. So his problem with heavy tyre usage didn’t really show itself until race day, where he suffered high degradation.

“I haven’t got a clue what to do at the moment and every time we have good ideas we don’t seem to make any progress,” he said after the race. “I love driving an F1 car so I am confident every time I jump in and then after two laps there is no grip anywhere. Obviously the car with a certain set-up is very quick but what I was driving was not a winning car.

“It’s been the same for the last couple of races and I don’t know why because it is normally something I am pretty good at. I’m driving round 1.5 seconds slower than the leaders and one is my team-mate but I can’t go any quicker.”

Button’s post Canada debrief will have analysed why he had the problems with tyre degradation and will then look at solutions for Valencia which he can then try out in McLaren’s high-tech simulator at Woking before travelling out to Spain.

Button confirmed that the start point for this effort will be to work from Lewis Hamilton’s set up and then evolve from there, “The fist thing you do is set the car up like the other one and that’s how we’ll do it initially,” he said. “I won’t be as quick as him on those settings but then we can work from there and find a set up that works for me.”

Jenson Button has expressed his confidence that the 2013 McLaren will "suit me a bit more" after admitting he has struggled for consistency in this year's MP4-27. Although the Briton has claimed two victories so far this campaign, he is already guaranteed to finish with fewer points in the championship than at the end of both of his two previous two years with the Woking team.
Indeed, the 2009 World Champion duly admitted to the British press last week that the 2012 car was the "worst" of the three McLarens he had driven.
