By the way, there are councillors at City Hall who have been on a witch hunt since Ford was elected!
They have looked for ways and tried so many things to discredit him, just because they weren't able
to get him to do them any favours!! The media is just as guilty.

This guy?

A guy that lies to the people he represents and goes on self professed drunken stupors? This guy leads the fourth largest city in North America. I'm shocked anyone would have a hard time discrediting him. :hehe:

Yup!! That guy!!

First of all, he is not the first (nor the last) person in history to get drunk and spout all sorts of drivel!
That was obviously a private moment/situation and whomever recorded it did so with the express intention
of using it when it would do the most damage! That is more disturbing than the ridiculous comments he made.

Secondly, he is not the first (nor the last) person in history to be so incensed by someone/something that they
lose it and spout all sorts of ridiculous threats (especially whilst under the influence). And, again, whomever
recorded it, did so with malicious intent. Again, that is more disturbing than the ridiculous threats he made.

Most of all, he admitted it. He was embarrassed by it. He realizes just how ridiculous he was. But, as I said
earlier in the thread, "all" these horribly embarrassing moments are "suddenly" coming to light and being made
public, just in time for Toronto's next municipal election. That doesn't sound "fishy"?

By the way, as "they" say (John 8:7), it's highly unlikely that any one of us has never lost their temper, never made
a ridiculous comment, never made a mistake. And, yes, that includes politicians who are human, after all. So, it
really isn't fair to be pointing fingers. Especially not my American friends, considering:

You don't have to remind me. He's just a lightweight compared to some of the American masters like I said in the OP. I'm sure Toronto has huge heart, I'm sure he's a shoe in for re-election.

I really find your position hard to understand on this. These are not isolated "bad moments", this is a pattern of behaviour. He didn't lie about crack use, he lied about it for 6 months, then justified it by saying he was in a drunken stupor and compounded the situation by saying he had not lied, but that reporters had asked the wrong questions. Instead of trying to understand and rationalize his behaviour, perhaps one should ask exactly what does he bring to the table that is a benefit to Toronto? As for pointing fingers ... that has seemed to be one of Rob Ford's few skills.

He messed up! NO doubt about that! BUT, he lied about the "one" incident (albeit repeatedly), so it's not really a "pattern", right?
Did I say he messed up?
BUT, he wasn't elected Mayor because he's perfect! He was elected because so many people/voters recognize that there is a long
gravy train at City Hall and most of those same people/voters are sick and tired of it. They see Ford as someone who is going
to stop that from happening. And, he has. He has also made a lot of "enemies" at City Hall in the form of Councillors who rode
that same gravy train and aren't impressed that he wants to cut back the fat.
Will he get re-elected? We'll soon find out.
Oh, by the way, I do know he messed up! But, who hasn't?

You are missing the point. He has messed up repeatedly. The fool doesn't even realize that across the border from Detroit lies Windsor, Ontario not Winnipeg, Manitoba. He has a pattern of alcohol abuse that he continues to deny is a problem, not to mention a drug connection for a chauffeur. He got into office on a platform of pointing the finger at others (the corrupt ones), and has shown himself to be worse. He is typical of the rich, self-entitled right wingers that sold this province down the river in the name of tax cuts that benefit only the rich. But of course it is all the media's fault.

Not at all! I did understand your point of view; but, I'm not completely convinced that Rob Ford is the devil he's being depicted as.

Not everyone "knows" geography and I'm going to bet that he isn't the only one who would make that mistake!

As for his alcohol consumption, I really have no clue how much he drinks, when, where or with whom, so I can't speak to a "pattern of alcohol abuse"!

Look, I don't know enough about the man to defend him, if I was of a mind to; but, the people/voters of Toronto elected him and in a few weeks time, it will be up to them if he will be given the opportunity to run again.

Oh, he wouldn't be the "only" nor would he be the "first" campaigning politician who made promises that never saw the light of day!!

And, to be clear, I wasn't blaming the media... I was referring to the councillors at City Hall. They are on a witch hunt. The media just likes to print stories/articles that sell advertising space!

So... you see to know a lot about Ford, can I assume you did not vote for him?? :D

You're right, even though as a juvie he probably stole money from his mother's purse to get high.

I don't think he needed to, as it sounds he had quite the allowance!

((p.s. I hope I haven't come across as his biggest fan, I just think the guy has been hounded by nay-sayers
from the beginning, yet he was duly elected!! Those that voted got what they wanted and those that didn't
vote got what they deserved!!))

It is very hard NOT to know about him, his SNL antics make headlines the world over. At least now he will get some help, according to his brother. Ford's platform .. "cut taxes, get rid of the deadwood" ... is easy to sell, but hard to deliver.

It's not so hard when you take things in the media with a grain of salt.
Help? What he needs is a publicist for damage control, at this point!!

As for his brother, apparently, he went after one of the councillors on
air "live" yesterday! Take a quick peek:
