And the corporate image media blitzkrieg continues. I guess he had a momentary lapse of that respect when he heard the multi 21 order. :hehe:
ESPNF1 Sebastian Vettel says he has "enormous respect" for Mark Webber even though they don't enjoy a good personal relationship.

Webber will retire from Formula One at the end of the season having been Vettel's team-mate for all four of his drivers' championships, but that time has been punctuated by numerous on-track incidents between the pair. However, Vettel said Webber will leave the sport with his respect having worked so closely for the past five seasons.

"To be honest with you I think we always shared respect, especially on the track," Vettel said. "When we've been fighting each other etc. I don't think it was lacking respect. I think each one of us respected the other guy inside the car and his ability. As team-mates for the last five years we've got to know each other very well, meaning that I know his strengths and - not his weaknesses - but maybe the corners where I have a little bit of an advantage and vice-versa."

Vettel also said the battle on track had been closer than it may appear due to his run of success.

"It has always been very close, maybe closer than what people remember, so I've appreciated that and therefore I have enormous respect. Surely you have to be honest as well; we didn't have the best relationship on a personal level if you look back. But at the end of the day we were very successful for the team as well, winning four constructors' in a row, so we made sure that together we scored enough points for the team."

I would like to point out and this is a major bug near of mine. English does not mean British. I am British.

However Big Azza has brought up a good point, why does everyone assume it is that Newey has won these championships and not Vettel.

If that is the case then why isnt Mansell, Prost, Hill, Villenurve, Hakkinen championships classed as the same

Well I've had a glass of wine or two, but Vettel isn't English or British is he? And Newey is British.

Maybe because those cars were not so dependent on an area that Newey alone has been most instrumental - aero. engines where a big part of those cars. It could be argued that having the Hondaoe Renault engine was more instrumental in the dominance
Also most of those drivers had already shown their abilities in other cars

I just watched Vettel at the 2011 Autosport awards - he was quite funny and charming in a slightly caustic, arrogant way, which i kinda liked. So it's really hard to understand
why he acts like such a knob when he's anywhere near a motor vehicle, and goes and ruins everything.

He does when he is losing you are right. However, Hamilton is also very expressive and I think disrespectful to his team with comments like "You guys have gotta start building me a better car, man."

Heat of the moment stuff, just like how you and I become different people when we're in the car and someone cuts us off in traffic...

Would I like Vettel better if he changed his personality inside his racecraft? Sure. But how many legendary drivers have you heard of in the past who were a gentleman off the track but a completely different person on it?

Adrian Newey said
"We had to keep pushing and we put a lot of work into developing this year's car, which in truth meant some compromise to the development of next year's car, but we felt we needed to do that.

"You could argue with 20:20 hindsight that we could have backed off earlier than we did and put more of our resources into next year, but if we'd done that too early and not got the Championship we'd be feeling pretty sick at the moment."

He added: "Some of what we have learnt will transfer to next year as well because the underlying aerodynamics are still similar.

"Other bits, unfortunately, have met their natural evolution and can't be applied to next year's regulations."

Asked whether Red Bull would be on the limit getting their new car out in time for the first pre-season test in Jerez, Newey said: "Yes, it's a big effort now from everyone to get the car ready for the first test."

Is this Newey once again trying to lower status quo expectations before 2014? or sandbagging because he already knows he will defy history and start ahead of the others?

I think he is trying to lower status quo expectations here. I think i read somewhere him saying a lot will depend on Renaults new engine. (Same lowering expectation trend)
