The worst league to watch is Italian Serie A. There is so much talent and so little on show because of the Italian's mentality of defending once they're a goal up. You want to see free-flowing, attacking football, especially for the amount the players cost and that the fans are paying in!

Obviously you no nothing about football then. Serie A is the best league in Europe with Juve and AC Milan being the greatest clubs. (See my other post as to why). And Italy are current world champs and 4 times in total with 1 European Cup title as well. Not much I can say about England now is there. 1966 was a long time ago. Stick to McLaren as at least you know a lot about that.

Yeah Soccer isn't big here either.
Toronto has a team in the new league and we just built a new stadium just for it at Exhibition Place. Our team has the imaginitive name of Toronto FC for football club. Apparently Beckham's first game will be here in that stadium.

We are stark raving mad for Hockey. Everyone but me, that is. I'm a freak. Some people won't associate with me because I don't watch hockey. The only sport I watch is F1. The Leafs suck.

Curling has its circles here I guess, but generally curlers are seen as weird, even here.

Would you believe the national sport of Canada is Lacrosse? I don't even know anybody who plays it. Ironically, the Buick Lacross is called Allure in Canada because GM figured Canadians wouldn't buy it if it were named Lacross. The irony to that irony is that the Lacross/Allure is made in Canada.

We have a lot of underground drinking water reservoirs, on top of which millions of east indians play cricket every waking hour.

There is a nice football (soccer) team in Canada called Toronto Croatia. They are the current Canadian Champs. Nice name. I like it. And the season before that, the champs were the Italia Shooters. Nice name for a club again. I like how Canada name their clubs. *LOL* Viva ITALIA, VIVA HRVATSKA(Croatia) and VIVA SLOVENIJA. :D

Well i support Arsenal and always have. What annoys me is man utd are a great team but the majority of their "fans" are not even from manchester and so are all glory hunters. The premiership is the best league in the world and that is thanks to the influx of more skillful foreigners (hence why the england team is no longer a force in football) and my only problem with Arsenal is that they do not field enough English players.

Well I was born in Manchester and I support Man Utd. My grandad even played for them back in the day!
Liverpool have won more English league titles and more European Cups, so surely people should support them if their glory hunting.

I've been lucky enough to do a wee bit of travelling in the last few years, and I have to say the support for the "Top Four" all around the world is quite astonishing!

I agree with you in part about the influx of foreign players. But they only add to the problem that we don't have enough world standard talent in England. Like the French 20 years ago, we need to go back to basics and build some world class training facilities for both players and staff alike.

Why are you mixing club and international football?

I still stand by point, backed up by years of watching football: the Italian league has a lot of skill, easily up there with La Liga and the FA Premier League, but the mentality of the game lets it down in comparison to the first two leagues I mentioned.

I agree with you on that one.

In regards to Juve and Calciopoli I believe Juve are victims in very much the same way McLaren was in the Spygate scandal. Like McLaren who probably never used the Ferrari data but were taken out because of Ferrari's hunger and power, Juve were taken down by Inter who were very desperate for a Scudetto. They hadn't won like in 17 years prior the scandal and are one of the big 3 Italian clubs, the other 2 being Juve and AC Milan. From 1991 until the scandal, Juve and AC MIlan won all title except in the 2 years where first Lazio won and then AS Roma. Inter being desperate created a bullsh!t scandal and the other 2 clubs down (Juve and AC Milan), although Milan got of very lightly and still managed to win the 2007 UEFA Champions League and Club World Cup. As a result Inter stole one of Juve's hard earned Scudetti and then won again the following year with basically no competition other than dismal AS Roma. So I don't think Juve are cheats just in the same way you (McLaren Fan) do not think McLaren are cheats and my point is as very valid as yours.

Regarding International football my point was more to say that Italy is the only country that has a strong league AND national side. As you know Serie A is as good as La Primera Liga and the EPL. Of course one has to be better than the other at times and in 2008 the EPL is obviously better (No need to say way as I am sure you know why). BUT Italy has a very stong national side as they are World Champs, ranked 3rd in the FIFA rankings and at times higher, finished first convincingly in their Euro 2008 qualifing group and are one of the favorites to win the tournament. With England and Spain on the otherhand their leagues are strong but national sides weak. England didn't even qualify and have performed dismal in the last few major international tournments. Spain qualified but they have never made it past a quarterfinal in 30 years or so in any major tournament. Then you have countries that have strong national sides and not so strong leagues. These would be countries like Germany, Croatia, Holland, France and the Czech Republic. The English clubs need to stop buying every good foreign player on the planet and develop their own players otherwise England will never win anything. Italy has a good balance for this in their own Serie A regarding Italians and International players as it clearly is evident by them having BOTH a strong domestic league and national side.

Reason why I hate Liverpool so much (and a lot more than McLaren which I have to admit I can actually tolerate) is because of the Heysel 1985 incident. Despite my club Juventus winning that year against Liverpool, the violence and death caused is totally horrid. (and yes I was only a few months old but history cannot be ever erased). It seems Liverpool supporters like making trouble (I know Juve ones and the like are not all inocent either), but just look at what happen on the home derby against Everton very recently. Liverpool supporters now bashing Eveton players during the game! I refer to the Eveton captain as he took a throw in during that game. You know the inncident I talk about.

Now im no Football nut poo i call it soccer afterall but to be fair to England, they are what you would call a team of champions not a champion team. i think they just need to learn to play as a team and with this Italian coach they just might do that.

Well if you read THE WHOLE ARTICLE is that Everton were chanting abuse at Gerrard and his kid.
Also every club in the whole world has a minority of Hooligans and a small number of them got through the fence and then it happened. And it wasn't just 'Pool fans who were throwing missiles. "In retaliation for the events in section Z, Juventus fans then rioted at their end of the stadium. They advanced down the stadium running track towards the Liverpool supporters seeking confrontation, but police intervention stopped the advance. The Juventus fans fought the police with rocks, bottles and missiles for two hours."

And the Players didnt care who won, they didn't even want to play the game. The Pen that you got was a few yeards outside the box and the Ref gave it, but we didn't care.

The English clubs need to stop buying every good foreign player on the planet and develop their own players otherwise England will never win anything. Italy has a good balance for this in their own Serie A regarding Italians and International players as it clearly is evident by them having BOTH a strong domestic league and national side.

And it's not just the good foreign players all the Premiership sides seem to love buying left-right and centre, they also love signing crap Jonny-foreigners just for the sake of it. And then when they do buy good English players, it's usually a player who is say the Championship's top leading scorer and then is forced to rot on the bench. When was the last time Arsenal fielded more than 2 English players? Nearly a decade ago now and Wenger uses his same boring excuses and keeps saying how he would love to field 11 English players.

But that's only the beginning, I don't even follow the England national team because they're a bunch of overpayed, girly, wimpy, overrated pussies (Beckham especially, REALLY hate him and his ugly wife Victoria). Even the "best" English players now are resorting to dissent, cheating, diving etc. It's players like Frank Lampard - who makes Nigel Mansell look slim - when he keeps moaning about his wages being too low when he's on well over £100,000 a week and then a tonne of bonuses on top. How too low is £100K??? All they think about is money. If anybody's ever heard "Lifestyles of the Rich and the Famous" by Good Charlotte then you'll know who they're talking about.

Apart from maybe Manchester United, most Premiership clubs don't even bother using youth players, they either rot on the bench or get shipped out to the likes of Accrington Stanley ("who are they?" :P).

The Championship (formerly the Old Second Division prior to the creation of the Premiership in 1992) is where the action is. Anything can happen - this season especially - there are no run-away winners, fans get behind the team instead of the "morgues" you get in the Premiership, the football is more exciting to watch than some of the drab 0-0 draws that teams like Middlesbrough (the Toyota F1 of the Premiership) have a sick fetish for.
Of course, fans of Premiership clubs always moan the Championship has no quality, too much brawn, no flair etc, but they're just jealous because the quality gap between the top half of the Championship and the bottom half of the Premiership pretty much doesn't exist. Just look at the FA Cup this year, tonnes of Championship clubs - including my beloved Blades :) - have knocked out Premiership opposition, just look at Barnsley, knocking out Liverpool AND Chelsea, and it's teams like Barnsley that just go to show whatever lack of skill smaller clubs have can be made up through hard-graft, team spirit, brilliant fans who sing and chant constantly, players who just want to play and worry about nothing else, and a never-say-die attitude, something Chelsea don't have and will never have, they should remember 20 years ago they were in the Old Second Division and only had 1 stand.

Well have you ever heard the saying, "Sticks and stones can break my bones but words will never hurt me?" Yeah I know the Everton supporters were abusing Gerrard's kid but they were just words which I am sure Gerrard ignored and got on with the game at hand. I cannot say the same for the Everton captain that was hit with pojectiles etc. Violence, real violence is physical attack not words that all football players are used to copping. Liverpool supporters are the masters at violence. Like the saying says for them, "You'll Never Get a Job" *LOL*. With the Heysel incident, I am aware of the penalty that really wasn't but that's not what I am angry about. Why would I care about a bullsh1t penalty that gave us the game and also that like you said no one even cared about. What angers me most is that 40 or so Italians died as a result of typical Liverpool FC violence! Face it no one other than Liverpool supporters like Liverpool. Even the English that do not support Liverpool dislike them. All the jokes and scum songs I get about Liverpool were created by the English after all including Liverpool's anti nick name "The Bindippers".

Youre a soccer hooligan AKR

It is called FOOTBALL get it right.

By the way you could say I am a hooligan MINUS the violence. Although I like bagging the teams I do not like, just like McLaren in F1, I would never resort to violence, not in sport anyway.
