After suffering one of your worst ever seasons, you'd think that the TP would be a lot more willing to shake some things up and bring yourself back to the front, look at Williams, end of last year and most of this year they've been restructuring the entire company; getting new cash flow and even got rid of Senna to be replaced with a rookie; it may not be upfront and public but they are making significant changes. McLaren seem content on just sitting there letting Martin not change a damn thing.

Who said he's not changed a thing? Under his leadership, he ousted that louse Hamilton, and Lowe for good measure. He brought in William's finest and they'll have a new, highly anticipated title sponsor announced shortly.

That's a lot of changes.

Ousting Hamilton and Lowe isn't exactly an inspired move, William's finest was a designer who's several years worth of attempts netted one win and a sponsor was needed as Vodafone are pulling out, rather than him looking for new cash flow, and that was probably more done by the board TBH.

Yes he's changed things, but not at the urgency that he needs to in the team, he needs to set about creating a new McLaren era, but instead keeps just trying to keep things going the way they are. After last year and this year I would be saying bye bye to Jenson, bring in some new blood and get the ball rolling. It's a shame really, cos' I reckon Ron is on that board just kicking himself.

Martin can't oust button, it's physically impossible for him, he is connected in some deep way.....you don't want to go there! It isn't pretty!.

On WB's post, I think you'll find his tongue was placed firmly in his cheek when he wrote.

Ps. That tongue in the cheek issue has nothing in common with the goings on between Martin and Jenson!

Ugh, I keep seeing news articles about the likelihood of perez being dropped after just one year.........I'd be really pissed if they did that. I can't seem to emphasize that enough!! ARGH!! :banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead:

It would be mad, considering next years a transition and that they told us they had taken him as a 'raw diamond' to be groomed the McLaren way

Perez has been closer to button than Kovalienen was to Lewis and they gave him another year. The kid has improved and has shown promise, yes get hulk or Alonso instead, but another rookie? Yet keep button?

They are just shifting blame to young Sergio for having the arguably worst year in their history

It would be a treat to have Checo deliver McLaren's only podium finish of the year in Brazil.

They keep making stupid decisions and don't learn, just go and compound the issue.
Why oh why dump Perez when he's younger, cheaper( a lot) and faster than button??
I would love to know the hold button has on that team? surely it can't just be that Martin has the hots for him? But if it carries on it will the ruination of them, if it isn't already.

Whitmarsh would find a way of getting him dqed to save buttons blushes

I cant see how they can get rid of him. For all the reasons above.

His results above are not that bad - if you compare his results to the ex-WDC next to him....

If they do dump him, I will be mad at them!! :curse:

Agreed LRW, and those stats don't show the following;
The car and team more suited to button, Sergio's first year
Button has been refactored team leader with advantage in strategies, less pressure
Button costs 15 mill, Sergio less than 1, and he is way way higher than Button on marketability scale
Sergio even brings sponsorship

On the button side of the ledger, he is more disturbing to Whitmarsh

No wonder that team is on the slide

AND Sergio is lighter, more advantageous for next years car.

Agreed! I'm not sure why they aren't disenchanted with button yet. He's not bad, but I just don't think he's as good as mclaren obviously thinks he is

I think I may go tweet McLaren before they make this disastrously poor decision!

Now that you've got a blog, you've got credibility. Maybe they'll listen to you.
