Cassius Clay! Mohammed Ali! The guy had class and style, like Lewis......(Hamilton I mean not Lennox) I'm a massive Ali fan!

You really think Lewis has the style and class of Cassius Clay...?

I dont know if they are words I would associate with Lewis. Never really thought about it before....

The reliabilty of cars now is such that it would be almost impossible for Vettel not to win. If you have the fastest car that never breaks down, like MS, you're going to shoot up the statistical rankings.

The modern driver benchmark is Senna, and when you see what he did in relatively uncompetitive/unreliable cars, as much as what he did in those McLarens, that's what sorts out the great from the good.

They're different characters but both command attention because of their skill. Both exciting, both just stand out above the rest. Well they do for me.

Agreed RC, both brought a unique style, both were unlike others before, both had a personality and spirit that brought an army of support especially from those previously on sidelines i.e a new audience

and unlike say Seb, Lewis has a personality and unlike cassius 'i am the greatest' Ali lewis is even humble

Lets see what happens in 2014 with a hopefully competitive package, but i reckon winning a few WDCs with 2 different teams is on the horizon. which would place him in the Senna comparison chart instead of the pop idol one

I agree. Lewis started out as a brash, supremely talented athlete, just as a young Ali did. Both were controversial at times, often their intentions misunderstood. As Ali aged, he matured into one of the classiest individuals in sport. Lewis is just beginning down that road, hopefully that will continue.

Kinda just occured to me we have quite a match of the modern day Schumacher, Hunt, Prost and Senna...

That being Vettel (his records, invincibility at the front with a questionable car), Kimi (tries hard to be a Hunt and most people believe he is one), Alonso (the thinker and manipulator of situations to favor him at any point...as we saw in Abu Dhabi), Hamilton (famed for overtaking and going for the gap everytime).

Not bad.

Interesting idea, and almost entirely true - but please don't compare Lewis to Senna ><

Hamilton doesn't do that anymore.

I don't believe hamilton actually did. I've answered more fully in the Lewis thread.

Why not - Hammer has given some valid points as to where he believes Hamilton and Senna are similar. So I think the comparison holds.
