I think Sergio coming in has made Button stronger.

I am not sure squealing on the radio to call off the rookie is a sign of strength

Jenson: The junior formulae

I think Jenson is bucking to be the subject around Rush 2.

Drunk speech:
“I had been quite fast in testing so when I went out to qualify at the first race the first few laps were a nightmare because every lap people were slowing down, then following me to see what lines I was taking and that was slowing me down,” recalls Jenson. “I came in after just ten minutes and told the crew there was no point going out because I could not get a good lap in. I waited for the last four minutes of the session and then went for it.”

Jenson doesn't want Magnessun because he knows that he will be slower.

"I don't know what happened. I couldn't find the balance or the grip. The pace just wasn't there," he said.

"That's tough, especially when we've looked pretty quick for most of the weekend. But I don't know where our pace has gone in qualifying - it's not the first time it's happened.

"It wasn't necessarily the weather conditions - other drivers seemed to cope - although I guess it may have contributed. We'll investigate.

"It was weird though - especially when you saw that Valtteri [Bottas] could go quickest in Q1 but his team-mate couldn't even get through to Q2."

Next year there will be a lot more than weather changing

Out qualified by Perez four times I think out of the last five. P16 today, P7 for Perez. I wonder if Martin is sweating under the collar yet? Wonder if the penny is dropping? I doubt it.

I don't know what went wrong.i looked good when it didn't count, I couldn't drive faster when it mattered becos everyone steps up a gear, so something mysterious happened

Whitmarsh accepts that something went wrong because we all know jenson can drive really well, so the whole team is tasked with investigating and making jenson fast

The penny yet to drop is that this is has been the story of jensons 15 year career, there is always a mysterious reason to why he is fast when it doesn't matter but when crunch comes unless everything is perfect for him he is not able to produce the goods.

Whitmarsh is on the cusp of thinking 'Jenson was unlucky and had a problem' to realising that he just cannot drive at his best most of the time - when things are not perfect. He doesn't do oversteer, can't warm up tyres by using them hard, can't do anything with imbalance, all he does is understeer safely round a track therefore a car he likes will always be slower than one allowed to be unbalanced when the situation demands it

I don't know what happened? Could find grip, Same line for 15 years and Whitmarsh only remembers the 2% of the time :duckie: had perfect conditions and the top drivers had issues

Jenson Button described his lack of pace in qualifying for the United States Grand Prix as "very weird".

:duckie: could only manage 13th fastest and will drop three places with a grid penalty for overtaking under red flags on Friday. :duckie: had been quick in the practice sessions leading up to qualifying but could not explain what happened in Q2.

"I haven't got a clue," :crying: he said. "The basic reason is that we're not quick enough." :crying::crying:

Asked if the conditions had an impact after three chilly and windy sessions, :duckie: said: "Other people seemed to cope. :( It's strange because all weekend I've been quick. It's very weird, especially in Q1 when you see [Valtteri] Bottas quickest and his team-mate out in 18th. I don't get it." :duckie:... :duckie:... :duckie:...

Come on, the practice sessions showed different, so that means Jenson cannot improve.

Conditions changed from practise to quali and the wind was gusting. Jenson doesn't do changing conditions, so I guess how he fares in the race will depend on track and weather conditions. It seems Sergio is more adaptive.

:duckie: is a lazy wannabe playboy, money grabbing, disloyal, backstabbing, politicking fraudster

and he has some bad points as well

At least he is consistent with excuses over the last 15 years

You should tweet all those links to a few McLaren high up personnel, maybe they might finally get a clue.

In 2014 they will get the rudest awakening ever when there will be a hundred reasons for Jensons grip to go missing

'I cant understand it, the rear end was so loose'
'its strange, the turbo didnt spool like before in p2'
'I just dont know, I had oversteer when i pushed'
'I just couldnt find the grip without torque oversteer'
'I had too much wheelspin, no grip'
'we just werent quick enough, i dont get it'
'i just couldnt use all the Ers without losing balance'
'we are just not quick enough, i dont understand it, tho my rookie teamate is 3rd on the grid, his setup is different'
'I just couldnt get the tyres in the right window, either too much slip or no heat'
repeat ad nauseam
