Yeah, I also think McLaren picked the wrong "prospect" last season. In hindsight they should have taken Hulkenburg, but to be fair Perez did well last season. To sack perez now would be them admitting they made a mistake. Plus I think Perez has done enough to deserve another season, he has matched Button in the last few races on pace.

Contrary to your popular belief, I am not certain. I don't think Maldonado is going to McLaren, it's either Williams again (which is unlikely) or Lotus since they've been keen to try and bring him aboard. I think Perez and Button will be in McLaren next year because lets face it, Perez hasn't done too bad this season, I mean not better than Button, but that wasn't the target. Plus, next year COULD prove vital for them, so I don't think we can judge Perez's first year in McLaren, but next year...Maybe...And if they give him the boot, I have a positive feeling they'll swoop for either Di Resta (Who has an uncertain future) or Hulkenberg if he is not confirmed for Lotus...

hmmn, your opinion I think is based on a belief that Mclaren can afford to pick drivers on merit and not for sponsorship. If that is the case Hulkenburg surely would be confirmed by now considering the admission that the team initially wanted Hulk over Perez and were overruled by Whitmarsh. And that since then Hulk ans proven to be better than Perez pound for pound.

Therefore the premise that McLaren will make decisions based on performance or merit appears to be untenable. Yes Honda may be coming on board with finance for top drivers like Alonso but thats 2015. For 2014 there is no evidence that Mclaren are selecting their drivers for performance.

And ofcourse there is the pesky fact of a new sponsor that has not been announced yet or confirmed. Therefore its entirely reasonable to assume that the fact the driver line up has not been confirmed is linked to keeping options open for potential sponsors.

And Maldo is a driver with confirmed sponsorship. Therefore its more likely the team are waiting for Maldos decision than considering talented but unsponsored drivers

McLaren wil not change. Next year they are not gonna take the season that seriously. This season is very important, because it made them focus more on the future than anyone else which means they could be very cometitive next year and 2015 especially.

Well, Kvyat has taken the title, so I think that somewhat justifies his place at Toro Rosso. It's looking likely that nobody from GP2 will make the step up to a Formula 1 seat this year, as the field has been so weak.

James Allen has said that if Lotus sign the deal with Quantum then The Hulk is in. However if the deal falls through Maldonardo has it

Makes sense. If Quantum come in with money, they can afford Hulkenburg who will get them good results. If they dont have the money they will go for Maldonado who has money and, as he showed in 2012, potential. Maldonado in 2012 was like Grosjean, and to be fair both have crashed far less this year!

That's true, and Grosjean has done it without losing the speed he has shown at times in the past. It seems his work with Sir Jackie has paid off. Hard to assess Maldo's year. The car really has held him back.

A bit bold, although I can see your reasoning since hulk has more points than perez this year. However, perez does have three podiums in a sauber to hulk's zero.

Consistency is the name of the game to be noticed by the top teams. Last year Sauber had a very good car, the best really when it came to tire preservation and we didn't have the ridiculousness of the tires we saw this year. So if they played their cards right a podium was within reach just from the right strategy, not necessarily the right driving. What the Hulk did to keep Lewis Hamilton behind him, Lewis Hamilton, the guy renowned for overtakes, he kept him behind in a very mature very clean way. I don't think Perez would have been capable of that performance.

Ricciardo is consistent. Maldonado isn't. Hulk is.
