Another day at home, another pack of flour put to good use:

Sadly, left in the oven a little too long, so the crust is rather thick and it's a little dry (I don't have a previous 100% wholemeal loaf as a reference, but I'm fairly certain it wouldn't be this dry if I hadn't messed up), but a pretty nice recovery seeing as I passed out and let the dough rise for 8 hours. >.<

Also, I'm not sure if I'm more impressed that these turned out perfectly or that they were all still on the tray 15 minutes after I pulled them from the oven. :hehe:

Thanks. :)

Next challenge is a sourdough starter, I think. Possibly also getting past my issues with cakes... >.>

There's something very satisfying about baking bread.

Knowing exactly what's gone into a loaf certainly makes me happier eating it and having the whole house smelling of fresh bread is great. Unfortunately, my skin does not enjoy the process of working dough, so I don't bake as often as I would like. :(

Working with the dough is my favorite part of the process... I mean besides eating the end result. It feels so organic, almost like a living thing.

I must confess to using a bread machine when making bread....but I'm good with cakes. Today I made a ginger cake and a crumbly apple clove cake. The ginger cake is in the car ready to go to Wales tomorrow. Here is the apple one

Looking at stuff like that makes me consider getting.... a wife in the future. :hehe:

Not being sexist, but I'd never bake anything in my life so it has to be someone else. I do enjoy cooking though.

You should give it a try. There's science involved. ;)

RC, can I have cake please? :):):)
