It seems things are falling apart at Lotus...and I, personally, feel for Kimi. I think Lotus have treated him abysmally, a) not paying him what they owe him, b) on occasion seeming to favour Grosjean, but I guess that's a matter of opinion ans bias, and c) the communication between Kimi and his race engineer. I've never heard a driver being spoken to that way before, it was highly unprofessional and rude.

Over the past couple years, he's been a very consistent points-scorer for Lotus and has often been in the running for the title. He's done a lot for the team, not to mention probably boosted their image by just joining them in the first place. Now, with them being so bitter about him leaving for another team, combined with their financial issues, their relationship has disintegrated.
So, thoughts? I think Kimi will be better off at Ferrari, they're a much more stable team and will hopefully have a better car in 2014. Right now, I'd be surprised if Kimi even shows up to the last few races. I don't think I'd blame him if he didn't.

Lotus have said the Radio message was "simply not appropriate'

He arrived Late at Abu Dhabi late.

He considered boycotting it.

It's just a hicup in my view. Like Grosjean last year, and perez early this season. They are just making a big deal out of something which they shold not.

I haven't noticed them favouring Romain. They have, however, been encouraging him to go out and beat Kimi because he's the one they need to lead the team once Kimi leaves, so it's only logical that they would do this.

If you're referring to to the message on Sunday, that wasn't Kimi's race engineer (the communications between Kimi and Mark Slade are perfectly fine) but Alan Permaine; throwing in the profanity is used to keep messages out of the main feed shown around the world, but unfortunately for Lotus it seems that the censored message is still played on whatever feed some of the journalists get access to.

I don't see any evidence of Lotus being bitter about him leaving. Disappointed? Sure. Remember, they have invested a lot in him, too; it was a big gamble to take him on after his attempt at rallying, given the general views of him after 2008/2009. Without Lotus, Kimi probably wouldn't be back in F1 (and if he was, certainly not in such a good position). After all it was only Kubica's terrible accident that created space for him there in the first place.

It would certainly make a lot of team principals think twice about entering into contract negotiations with him in the future...

The only point I really agree with you on is the money issue, which is ridiculous, but it would appear that Lotus' finances are a complete mess pretty much all the time. They need big investment. Getting Renault to buy back part of the team would help, but I imagine that would be impossible to achieve if Red Bull keep up their form.

It's finished, Lotus can't win a title, they still lack those small things that all the other top teams have, Kimi expected they would be challenging for the title, especially after the win in Australia, since Monaco Lotus went backwards.

When it comes to being unprofessional and rude, Kimi's radio messages have sometimes left a lot to be desired. In fact, Kimi is probably the rudest driver in the paddock. He should maybe learn to take what he, so often, dishes out.

When it comes to being unprofessional and rude, Kimi's radio messages have sometimes left a lot to be desired. In fact, Kimi is probably the rudest driver in the paddock. He should maybe learn to take what he, so often, dishes out.

Ironically I have never heard anything from Kimi about him being upset about the message, I reckon he doesn't mind too much and just accept it was a heat of the moment kinda thing; it's everyone else who's outraged.

So let me get this straight....when Kimi is a rude pr!ck to his engineer (read Abu Dhabi last year, and numerous other times), it's all HAHAHA James Hunt cometh!!!......when it's vice versa, "How rude, bloody Permane needs to be stoned to death". The hypocrisy whenever Kimi is concerned is amazing.

If anyone else in the paddock did that and walked away, they'd probably be boo'ed across continents like Vettel is now. But 'James Hunt' seems immune to ridicule.
