You found that out of some blog....and how do you know the context it which he said that? It sounds like he was being humorous with those lines, find us a vid and we'll judge from that. "Don't you know I'm as good as Senna?"....seriously, you think he was being literal with the reporter?

You might consider the fact that the McLaren fairy-tale writers have a huge part in this perception of Hamilton!
The hype surrounding him and his "greatness" and "invincibility" put him on a pedestal that was seen to be a
foregone conclusion! He was presented to the F1 world as the next "Senna" and comparisons were being made
continuously. I realize the British hadn't had a "homegrown" hero in years and many hoped that the hype was
true. Unfortunately, for Hamilton, he is human, after all. Unfortunately, for Hamilton, his F1 career has been
followed not only by fans; but, also by controversy, as he seems to be at the wrong place at the wrong time!

McLaren took a lol of persuading to put Hamilton in that car, as I've said before. Alonso was supposed to be the guy that got the business done but we all know how that panned out. There was no attempt at McLaren to put Lewis on a pedestal, in fact Dennis tried to keep him out of the limelight.
As for British " homegrown" heroes... Britain led the leader board then and still does forF1 world champions., so that's a ridiculous thing to say.

That you have to go back to a six year old blog to try to discredit Lewis kind of proves the point about the lengths people will go to to have a go at him.

Could you please quit wasting time on all those lines and focus on the 1 line that really matters? "F1 will not suffer a loss if Brawn leaves"

Paddy Lowe leaves McLaren, Button says 'it wont affect us, we are bigger than that' and its ok, Kimi gets asked the same thing and its probably 'who is leaving? I dont give a s***'

Lewis says the same thing, except maybe doesnt bother with niceties and all of a sudden he is not even too honest or 'sticking to the corporate line too tightly' or not playing the word games well enough

It is different because you are not comparing like with like. Brawn is in the extraordinary bracket. Where as Lowe and Allison are not. To compare like with like would be for Vettel to say "Newey leaving will not effect Redbull"
