 What I don't get is that Ferrari is going to fast track a new F1 factory to be built next to it's new (and hopefully properly calibrated) wind tunnel yet they still are going to keep Domenicalli as Team Principal.

A new facility is always cool for the workers and engineers and Ferrari does have a top notch facility already but when the Team principal
provides no motivation, can't rally the troops and would rather be Horner's personal pin cushion why bother?

They have made some great personnel moves and got rid of Massa as the #2, wind wind tunnel ready to open but the same old team leader. Maybe Stephano "works for food and cigs" which is why Luca keeps him around :banghead:

Are we sure SD is staying?

Thing about Ferrari is too much nepotism and cronyism. Too much 'family' and history and loyalty and 'the proper respect'

Massa is not pulling his weight? - cant get rid of him, we look after our family,
the Dom not too effective? - cant get rid of him, he has been here for ages and his kids carry home the shopping of Lucas mum

Brawn brought success because he resisted this so called 'spaghetti culture' and built a team of foreigners there on merit. The Dom is not in a position to do the same with the Don -Montezemolo breathing down his neck and sending everyone knives to stick between their teeth.

Family businesses are notorious for inefficiencies and acrimonius power struggles and fall outs, because when employees are not family its much easier to draw lines and optimise roles

I sincerely hope you're joking in making such a generalization; otherwise, you are giving the impression of being racist!! :nono:

Yes I am being racist to formula 1 team principles who do not have the same voice. Maybe I only see it this way because I am British?

Why should every team principle have the same voice?
Why should they be British? Why would that make them any better?

I think NHCheese it's because the vast majority of F1 teams and indeed engineers/mechanics/strategists are british so it can sometimes seem that like the brits know how to operate F1 better than anyone else, it's not the case, just most F1 teams are based here because we have a high intake of engineering courses at unis; and our courses are done to a higher spec than the French do for example.

However regarding Ferari I do see a problem of post-Brawn they tried to go back to being as italian as possible, which has closed doors to some very talented people, so now their opening the doors up again (James Key etc).

Let's get one thing clear, principles are one thing and team principals are another

Ofcourse some would say the two are mutually exclusive but let's try and use the right term

Edit; and whilst I am being pedantic, it's would have not would of

Imagine someone scratching nails on a blackboard? That's the pain caused

Little bit of historical stuff going on as well. The Brits were the front runners in the sport long before current uni courses got their act together...but credit to them for keeping up the high standards!! There's a new technology learning centre being built at Silverstone.
