I am getting started in Motorsport this year and looking to take part in some Formula Vee this year. I've sent off my registration to the 750 Motor club and now need to get some racewear sorted. I have come up with 2 designs for what I might use for my crash helmet. Which design do you think is the best?

I think I like the one with the sword and the red stripes best.

Thats not just any sword . . . thats a BLADE!

I like the second one with the rose, the first one looks too much like the U.S flag!

i like the top one kinda like Alonso's, When you get it painted may i suggest matte colours, thats the in thing atm
So Formula Vee nice, what are the requirements to getting a licence as in is there a certain skill level needed?

I take it you will have to sit and ARDS test. Basicly you have to do about 10 laps on the track to see if you are able to drive the car, and then they take you into a room for a theory test, asking which flags mean what etc..

I did all that last October at Croft Circuit near Darlington, so I've got my licence, sent off my registration for the 750 Motor Club, when it comes back I'll register to compete in Formula Vee, let the guy who runs the race hire outfit whose car I tested in February to let him know what races I intend to do (and also arrange another test day - want another run in the car in May or June) and then wait to receive the entry letter for Donnington in mid July (the first race I intend to compete in).

Every category of Motorsport that the 750 Motor Club covers is pretty good value for money, one of the principles behind the club is low budget competitive racing.

An arrive-and-drive deal costs about £650 in Formula Vee for a race, and you don't have to compete the whole Championship either. I'm also considering doing Formula 4 when the time comes for me to buy my own car.

American racing is alot cheaper matey

I'm taking part in a racing school in the USA in calafornia, and i'm getting testing in the Indy car series, costing me $2,000, but if i prove to be qucik enough i can then become a test driver, or take a drivers seat. The team can't be mentioned, but mate you know if you want somthing grab it, the cheapest way to get around it is proove your quick enough and they willgive you the seat, it's better than getting all this sponsorship and then paying your way in?

if you look at the Silverstone packages, to get into Formula Ford it costs 180,000 Pounds? you could purchase a house for that price!

Racing in America sure sounds tempting, I would have loved to test out a ChampCar, but the problem before you even get to testing is getting to America itself and staying whilst you compete there.

i know what you ean m freind, while you are in the same situation as me, i'm in the business bit or working, and to be honest with you, your young, and wanting to spend all your money but trusat me if you have the heart you can do it, but i have saved up for months now, Americans are strict on the whole GF thing so i might have to let mine go for a while... but trust me mate the best of luck, but try and go to american if you can, there racing is outstanding!! watch Dan Wheldon or Scott Dixon!! IndyCar Racing is so intresting, its compltly different to the Formula Series, as there based on overall turning and seeing if you can overtake, in Indy your going on the overall power of the car, and the allignment you have, It so much different

Dan Wheldon is the man to look at, British an makes me proud to be British
