p.s. saying it's only to keep things fair, is NOT a valid reason!! 
I think it's so that they have to do pit stops since they don't refuel any more. Since before DRS pit stops were often the only place overtaking happenned.
But if there were a whole load of tyres to choose from, some soft, some hard, some in between, but they all worked and didn't explode, then it could be up to the teams wether to take one or two compounds. Up to the teams to decide which is the best tyre to take and wether to change it or stay on it.....I would have thought
