Yet no doubt if "your man" was driving Vettels enhanced car his success would all be down to driver skill.
Perception.

Again you wanting Newey to quit is just poor sportsmanship.

McLaren fans are a bit but hurt this season, (the worst since perhaps 1980)... that's understandable but why take it out on others?

Why change the subject?

Because I think there's nothing unsporting about saying that it's boring watching domination. so I'm not sure how you could be certain what someone's perspective would be the way I'm not certain my statement covers all McLaren fans.

Perspective would be if Lewis was dominating in a Newey car then she'd be dreading his retirement.

Maybe I'm just misinterpreting what she said, or you're just viewing it entirely differently. I think I'd be just as bored knowing the outcomes and they would be a hell of a lot less meaningful personally. But I can't speak for RC, I know her love of Lewis goes deep, but I'd wager she'd be bored as hell too. I know Lewis has stated the same about there being no excitement without "the fight".

It's like wishing Michael Jordan would quit so the Bulls stop winning. A sporting person would rather take on the Bulls with Jordan and say I beat them!
That's just my mentality though, clearly others would prefer the easy way.

On the one hand I agree with you, but on the other, I would have liked the other teams to rise to the challenge instead of just waiting for him to retire.

Totally agree with this!! The problem with Newey retiring is that there will always be a question mark over any success
other teams may attain after he's gone!
Teams/drivers need to beat Newey/Red Bull/Vettel ON the track for it to be "legitimate"!

And, just so that doesn't sound patronizing, yes, that goes for Ferrari, too!!

And I thought you knew me Bud.ive already given my views on if Lewis was in a dominant car here

I don't want him cruising to victory in a car that's two seconds faster than everyone else. I want him fighting tooth and nail against drivers in similar cars. I want the hairs on the back of my neck to stand up when he pulls off an audacious move, I want him neck and neck down a straight against Alonso. I'll say again. I support Lewis because I like how he drives more than I like how any of the others drive. Vettel and his style of winning bores me, it certainly doesn't give me goose bumps!!

Maybe you need to turn on the A/C?

(Thought I'd put in a gratuitous comment, to help people remember to vote!! :wavey: )

so you're saying if Lewis' team makes a car that is two seconds faster than their nearest rival you would wish they would falter to make it a closer fight?
End of the day Vettel is doing his thing, driving... no different to any other driver, can't ask anything more from him!

No I'm not saying I'd want Lewis or his team to falter, I always want Lewis to win. I'm saying I would prefer to see Lewis out there fighting for his win not being gifted it. I want him to earn it through his talent, it will mean much more.
I don't believe I've asked any more of Vettel? He just doesn't excite me, irritates me in fact. But I didn't mention Vettel, I made a comment about Newey retiring .

Its natural that Newey will himself feel the need to take on other challenges, maybe at his own team, maybe at a struggling team, maybe in a different series. Its also natural that those who worked with him will look to carve their own paths and develop further. Its all par for the course.
Its also natural that many will look forward to the next era

In fact the only thing certain is that change will come one way or another. A big part of competition and sport is the urge to bring down the champions and dismantle their winning formula. I am sure Usain Bolts competitors are not standing around admiring his talent. More like they are sticking pins in Bolt voodoo dolls and hoping he breaks a leg or gets bored.

And in F1 many will be hoping Newey resigns if they cant poach him. They wont be saying, what a priviledge it is to get beaten by such a talented guy, I can tell my grandkids.

As far as the drivers, they all want to drive for RBR as its the best car, but they also want to beat the best drivers and be seen to beat the best drivers because thats where the respect comes from.

When RBR say on one hand that they want the best drivers, and Seb says he is not afraid of anyone, yet RBR reject the opportunity to sign Lewis, Alonso and Kimi, and instead match Seb with Ricciardo, then the respect from the drivers will be for Newey mainly.

No, but they might say something like, "Damn, I wish we had a couple more years to show everyone we could beat him."

After saying that for 25 years or so, since the Williams days, one has to wonder what a couple more years are gonna chafinally beat him as well

Its a package at RBR, like it was at Williams and like it was at Ferrari. To win you must have a better package, car, staff, drivers, money. If Newey leaves RBR and then they are beatable, no one is gonna say 'what a shame, I didnt get the chance to beat Newey' They will be more concerned about beating other teams
