Do you know what, am I the only fan who still has to look up almost every weekend if option is the softer or harder tyre?

For some reason it just does not stick or makes sense in my head

Well, you are better off than I am, as I'm still trying to get my head wrapped around "why" you even need different tires!! :banghead:

I can't remember either. I wish they just say soft or hard. Or softest and hardest.

Oh that's a good way to remember! So the option is the soft one?

Just have to remember which sticks

That sounds so dirty.

And, this doesn't:
the option sticks the prime doesn't.

Option is meant to be the premium or special. So it should always be the softer and faster compound out of a pairing of hard, medium, soft and super soft. Bread and butter tyre plus sexy option except Pirelli screwed up so there is no feeling of 'special' tyre anymore, they are all crap

The thing that get me is that if you asked for something prime it would be the best. Where as it is not the best tyre

Yeah maybe the prime tyre should be a normal whole race lasting tyre and the option should be a joker card that's a random shot for glory or hell for the more desperate teams. No one is told about its wear rate and it's a pot luck gamble as it's quicker but tricky

You could take the whole concept further and have the tyre start smoking say 1 lap before it explodes or delaminates so the driver would know when to bail out

I can never remember the difference between the option or the prime or anything.
