It's hard to picture Ron Dennis wearing that hat without breaking into laughter.

Ron is supposed to have a truelly great sense of humour so you never know  .

The operative word here is 'supposed'

Hey Gregg, it shows you're spending a lot of time here with all those wacky Brits - you've even started to spell like them!:lol::twisted:

Now be careful DD because insinuating the Brit's are even remotely close to my 'redneck' vocabulary and spelling expertise  or mentallity could lead to a feud such as the one between the 'Hatfields and McCoys' !

This thread (amongst others) demonstrates precisely why I for one won't be coming here again. I thought the ITV F1 board was childish, but hell, this place takes the biscuit. The incessant name calling, taunting and general bickering is unbelieveable. And the worst offenders? McLaren and Ferrari 'fans'. And I use the word loosely..

Ok, so you can support a team, you can believe passionately in it's drivers and personnel... hell, you can tattoo the team logo on your face if you like, but why, just for once can't you lot have any kind of debate without resorting to the crap I witness here everyday?

There is a hardcore set of trolls that frequent this place who act akin to the English football louts of the bad old seventies, with the exception that they can't actually beat the crap out of others physically, so they attempt (badly too usually) to do it with the written word. And the worst part is they don't even seem to have any real knowledge of the sport. They just cling to the Ferrari or McLaren image as a way of feeling like they have some friends.

Well, enough's enough for me....

To the board mods... I don't agree with censorship of posts, but you really should take a look at some of the vitriolic posts that litter your board - is this undisguised contempt for people what you wanted to see when you set this place up?

Nice speech, very emotional. Umm I am full hardcore Ferrari Tifosa but I have McLaren fan friends in real life, and umm lets see now (As far as this forum is concerned), I have spoken to Bud (A McLaren supporter) many times on MSN and even once to McLaren Fan. And Racechick (Another McLaren Supporter) I've had a few email chats with and also chatted with her on the Chatroom here on this forum. Mr F1tastic, as far as I am aware we are all friends here. I've been name called before as well by some of the very people I just mentioned. I do not take it personally and I would say neither do they when they are called names back. This is just sport. As long as it just stays to name calling AND within the sport and doesn't get to a personal level, no one really cares so get over it.

Wow! I finally agree with you at something AKR!! :D But yeah just because we all have different views doesnt mean we're not friends. It doesnt matter what sport forum you go to, there will always be fierce rivals and there will always be so called "name-calling." This isnt "happyland" where we all scratch each others backs, give foot massages, and wipe each others' rear-ends. But this is one reason why I'm happy to be a BMW fan, no arch rivals

Then why did heikki not get the same offer

Hamilton promised $4m supercar with title.
Lewis Hamilton has been promised a $4 million McLaren supercar for free - if he wins the world titles this year.

The 23-year-old British driver told The Sun newspaper that he first clapped eyes on the ultra-rare McLaren LM in the team's F1 factory ten years ago.

"When I first went to McLaren it was there and I fell in love with it," he said of the orange LM, one of only five such cars in the world.

Dennis, 60, says Hamilton can have the car if he wins the 2008 title, and McLaren is crowned constructors' champion.

"Fortunately, our deal gives me a bit of time to save up!" Dennis joked.

Hamilton currently leads the drivers' title from Kimi Raikkonen by three points, while McLaren sits five points ahead of BMW Sauber in the teams' standings.

This is old news! I read about that deal partway through last season!! The deal was not if he wins the 2008 championship it was if he wins it in the next 3years, and that included last year. So whoever you quoted from had not got that right. When the deal was struck Heiki was not even on the McLaren horizon!!

Now I bet people are going to say "Well, was Fernando given this same offer??" All the mclaren fans are going to say "yes, of course he was, all are equal at mclaren" then you will hear all the Ferrari fans saying "I bet a million dollars/euros he wasnt given the offer, and I bet thats part of the reason he left!!" Then you get people like me who are BMW, Honda, Red Bull, Toyota...etc fans who will be caught in the middle scratching or shaking their heads. haha thats my prediction, but I love yall anyway :D

Nope Fernando wasnt given the same offer, it was a personal deal between Lewis and Ron. However since Alonso was earning in excess of £10milion more for the year than Lewis he had ample funds to buy one should he feel so inclined.

Well I definately read it early on last season and it was definately if he won it within the next 3 years. Cant remember where i read it sorry- probably autosport, the Times or somewhere on the web. Of course if he wins this year then he gets the car but the original deal was struck last year.

Ultimately you guys are acting like this is in his contract when in affect it is just a handshake deal with a laugh or two for the press. the ultimate reward in which both Lewis and Ron care about the most is the actual titles themselves. Lewis doesnt need the notion of getting a McLarenF1 LM as motivation and neither does Heikki.

Fair enough bud, but you & a few others are the one's who say's its an even playing feild in evey way at McLaren.
Well it does not sound even to me.

Hammy if you win you get a McLarenF1 LM
Heikki if you win you get a set of stake knives ............... But wait there is more

all im saying is if Heikki said to Ron hey i like that LM can i have it, im sure he would say hey if you win the title sure! its just banter between driver and team owner nothing more, just the media turn it into something as if its in his contract.

but again you could go further and say hey Lewis is getting paid more than Heikki....thats not equal treatment. bla bla but

ultimately i think Heikki and Lewis would get the same equipment and same oppurtinity for Ron to show more affection to Lewis is understandable considering their history, it would be like a Father coach trying to be fair with a team ofcourse anything favourable to his son is seen as a deliberate act of favouritism. I think Rons only hope is to not even talk to Lewis to please all you haters out there. but then that would be favouring him as he is not distracting him :D

Mike dont punish the Brits and Yanks with Tim Shaw!!!! :P

Ive told you the deal was done last year and its completelyirrespective of the drivers contracts. If you dig around you'll see im right. I didnt just imagine reading it!!
#37768
I remember reading about it sometime last season but can't recall the details then but could well have been 3 CS wins, in the Sun last week it said if he wins this season and 2009 then the car's his. While I wouldn't believe everything in the Sun t o me that makes sense as I think Mclaren weren't allowed to win the drivers championship through no fault of Hamiltons.

Sounds like the usual McLaren PR sepal, and fair enough.
But I am a bit more sceptical, which I am sure you wouldn’t expect any different from me.

Whats wrong with Tim Shaw :?:
We have no right to deprive them Of:

BUT WAIT THERE IS MORE:P
