A wanted man in 2015...?

Reports suggest Jenson Button will be given the chance to finish his career with McLaren
However, Red Bull, Ferrari and Mercedes all thought to be interested

Jenson Button will be given the chance to finish his Formula 1 career with McLaren according to reports.

The former World Champion joined the Woking-based team in 2010 and the Daily Mail claim they want to retain the British driver for another three seasons.

Although not officially confirmed, Button's one-year extension for 2014 has already been sealed, but McLaren are also now looking to the longer term.

'The team are already planning for 2015 and are ready to offer Button the chance of up to three more seasons as they strive to build a partnership with Honda which can rekindle the kind of success they enjoyed when Ayrton Senna and Alain Prost were behind the wheel,' the newspaper reported.

Button's connections with Honda can be traced back to 2003 when he drove for the BAR team who were powered by the Japanese marque, before the team were became a fully-fledged works outfit in 2006.

However, according to the Daily Mirror, the 33-year-old may not be around for Honda's return to F1 and is a potential target for Red Bull, Ferrari, Lotus and Mercedes into 2015.

'Sources at Red Bull and Ferrari admit the Brit is on their wanted list, while at the end of next year all the top teams will be in a state of flux over their driver line-up,' the newspaper claims.

'Red Bull are waiting to see how new boy Daniel Ricciardo performs. And Ferrari have cast an eye over Button yet again because they are by no means certain the Kimi Raikkonen and Fernando Alonso partnership will make a second season.

'Lotus rate him highly too and Lewis Hamilton would certainly work with him again at Mercedes.'

Whether Alonso's potential partnership with Raikkonen even makes one season is still the subject of much speculation with fresh rumours in the Japanese paddock that McLaren are still looking at luring the double World Champion back to the team in place of Sergio Perez.

Yes ok, I know the source of the article is the Daily Mail - but....

Haha, what a classic case of journalistic licence.

Pure speculation designed to titillate those a little soft in the head

The facts are that Mclaren have not confirmed his 1 year extension, let alone 3 more years. This is pure PR from Buttons management, working on getting him a seat for 2015.

If Honda wanted him, why would they risk losing him? they would have instructed Mclaren to extend his contract for 2014, 15 and a few more after that.

Lewis would welcome him at Merc instead of Nico :rofl:

Mercedes want him????? Lewis would work with him?????? Hmmmmmm. Why on earth would Merc entertain switchin either of their current drivers for Button? Methinks Jens has been doing a bit of the old wining and dining of the press! or the press are really, really struggling for news.

Suicide line?

Button would make Lewis look good

I don't recall Button pushing Lewis like Nico has

I don't recall Lewis lapping Nico in normal conditions

I do remember Sergio making Jenson squeal like a frightened girl on track though

I am sure the top teams remember that incident and look forward to testing their own rookies against the DD WDC

From the daily heil article, that coincidently is also an exclusive interview with Button

McLaren have already taken up their one-year option on Button for next season, the final year of their engine deal with Mercedes.

Have already taken up? Already taken up is a lie as they missed the deadline. And have not signed and confirmed a brand new 1 year contractmonths after the original deadline for triggering the option :rofl:

Button’s fortunes this season have been a far cry from his days with Brawn or even those of his earlier years with McLaren.

Hahaha, far cry from the first half of a season when Brawns had a massive loophole advantage

Earlier years with Mclaren? when he was never ever a credible challenger for winning a title

But when you have been there and that’s where you normally are, fighting for a world championship, even though it hasn’t happened for a while, it really does hurt.
‘When you drop back when you’re not in the game and you’re not near the front fighting it out for victories and even podiums it hurts.’

What a joker, in his 15 years or whatever he was only in serious contention ONCE, in the DD year, the majority of his F1 experience is at the back of the grid staying out of trouble and collecting his pay cheque

‘We’ve been around the block and we’ve made the mistakes whereas Red Bull havent . But we know exactly where we don’t want to put the car so it does narrow the window and I think we understand what to do with next year’s car.

:rofl::rofl::rofl:

I'm not saying it's going to be race-winning because no one knows, but I have a feeling we have a good understanding of why this car isn't.

This is the same Button who had a feeling that the 2013 car was the best Mclaren ever and a car he had influenced and so would suit him better. The same jackass who said the 2012 mclaren was the worst car the team had produced while he was there

He's not ageing well. Maybe Whitmarsh will go off him.

I'm still puzzled at the disturbingly good looking choice of words. Jenson is handsome, yes. But why would Whitmarsh use the word "disturbingly". I'm not disturbed by a good looking man.

dis·turb (d-stûrb)
tr.v. dis·turbed, dis·turb·ing, dis·turbs
1. To break up or destroy the tranquillity or settled state of: "Subterranean fires and deep unrest disturb the whole area" (Rachel Carson).
2. To trouble emotionally or mentally; upset.

When disturbing and goodlooking are used in conjunction, its safe to conclude that the appraisal involves wet dreams and desires of the flesh

When actually uttered by a TP of a sport that is primarily about sporting ability it becomes suspicious

When a lame duck is suddenly promoted at the detriment of the best sporting asset in the team the mind boggles

When Sam Micheal turns up at his side and is introduced as the boss in waiting :yikes:

I don't think he's handsome. And he certainly doesn't disturb me. He irritates me.

That's because you've been hanging around here so long that you've begun to appreciate overweight hairy men with below average duck size.
