Half of which were during a safety car.

Which is a false statement.
5 out of those 35 laps were behind the SC.

Alonso's tyres were still in good shape right after the SC went in, which is the point. THIS is the moment when Vettel was flying away taking over 2 seconds per lap on average.... people with common sense would wonder why. Please quit treating everyone like idiots here saying Alonso's tyres were worn, maybe by the end of the race but we're talking about their relative pace when the SC went in, and his tyres were most definitely in respectable condition.

I am NOT saying Alonso's tires were worn, they were fresh.
However, Alonso needed to do 35 laps on his tires. Vettel only needed 16 more laps on his tires.
Alonso needed to save his tires to make the end of those 35 laps, Vettel didn't. It's not rocket science.

Alonso was still eyeing for WDC chances in Singapore. He had Vettel right in front of him but no, chooses to let Vettel fly away and think of conserving his tyres the moment the SC goes in? Come on....stop trying to fool yourself.

Now you're just insulting Alonso. Do you really think that he would give up what he/they believe to be the best strategy (2 stops) to blindly burn his tires to chase after Vettel? This is one of Alonso's greatest strengths.

I'm not going to pretend to know what was going through his mind, so you might be right as well.

The fact is though Vettel was able to pull out over a 2 second lead at WILL whenever he wanted. It happened at least 3-4 times during the course of the GP. But you have your blind justifications for all those times, and you have the right to live in lala land with them.

I wish Bottas had TC.

Maldo can go without as far as I'm concerned.

So does Toto
Mercedes motorsport boss Toto Wolff says that Red Bull and Lotus could be advantaging from highly developed engine mapping settings and exhaust flow control, and believes its resulted recent supremacy of Red Bull and Lotus.

Recent some races showed Renault powered machines made domination; Red Bull and Lotus boost their performance in last three races.

Mercedes’ title chance washed out, following Vettel’s five consecutive victories. Renault-powered teams secured the top podium finishes in the past three races.

“I think what you can see is that Red Bull from Singapore onwards looked like having made a big step forward, and then in Korea the Lotus made a big step forward of 0.2-0.4 seconds.’ Wolff told Autosport

“The question we need to look at is what they do in terms of engine mapping maybe. Is there something there? The blowing strategy maybe?

“In terms of development over the last races, we seem to be behind. Is it because there is something we don’t understand in terms of mechanical set up?

“Or did first Red Bull and then Lotus do something which is related to engine strategy?”

Common Toto, enough with the subtle hints, everyone's talking about it

If I were you I would be more concerned about the engines Williams will be receiving rather than the manufacturers own batch

Just pointing out the 'sudden' increase in performance without accusing a competitor of cheating, pointing out that it's not like 3 drivers have suddenly become faster and more skillfull in managing traction out of corners

Interestingly he points out that Lotus, the customer got a similar but much smalle improvement after the works team (half of it anyway)
