As for Lewis' offer... I think it all has been said before: Lewis has some kind of moral support the other drivers don't get. Even though they all get the same car and professional treatment. This is something Heikki accepts, as many other drivers would too, maybe for the sake of being in a frontrunner team. Alonso didn't; and I think he was right in doing so, even though I don't agree with the way he behaved (neither with the way he is behaving now), regardless of the way he drives.

That's spot-on. I basically see it that Hamilton naturally has a well-developed relationship with the personnel at McLaren and there's no reason why he should seek to diminish that. It's Heikki's job to get himself into a similar position, but from what I know about him (which is limited) if he's quick enough to stay at the team for any length of time (and I think he is) this won't be an issue as he seems a very likeable fella - level-headed like all Finns (Ron seems to naturally take to them too) but a bit more outgoing than Kimi.

I think LH just cheekily suggested it to Ron one day and he just said yes. Personally, if Hamilton winning two titles mean I had to give away THAT car, I'd be seriously tempted to sabotage a few of his races!!!

I'm not questioning your integrity; I'm questioning the integrity of the article. Now I know the article's origins, it seems it's genuine, and I state again that I'm not a fan of the arrangement because I feel it should involve Kovalainen as well. However, the article leaves a lot of things unanswered, so we can't make too solid judgement on the matter.

I ahve a similar thing being a Honda fan. Admittedly, we have Toyota as our arch-rivals, but they have very few fans. And everyone else hates them as well anyway

Lewis Hamilton has been promised a $4 million McLaren supercar for free - if he wins the world titles this year.

The 23-year-old British driver told The Sun newspaper that he first clapped eyes on the ultra-rare McLaren LM in the team's F1 factory ten years ago.

"When I first went to McLaren it was there and I fell in love with it," he said of the orange LM, one of only five such cars in the world.

Dennis, 60, says Hamilton can have the car if he wins the 2008 title, and McLaren is crowned constructors' champion.

"Fortunately, our deal gives me a bit of time to save up!" Dennis joked.

Hamilton currently leads the drivers' title from Kimi Raikkonen by three points, while McLaren sits five points ahead of BMW Sauber in the teams' standings.

The "we" in Kimi's comments mean what most of the "individual" sportsmen mean when they say "we". It means he acknowledges he's part of a team.

Hey, I like Toyota! I was happy for them when they got 4th at Malaysia. But then again I just love Formula 1 in General, I'm not really a fanboy of a team, I'm more of a fanboy of Formula 1!! But that doesnt mean I dont have a favorite team, and by now I'm sure you know which one it is (BMW). The reason I like BMW is because they are a low-key team, not too much drama. Plus I just like to see teams develop and progressively get better and better like BMW,Honda, Red Bull, and Toyota. Those are the kind of teams I admire, but then again I love the history of victory such as Ferrari, and Mclaren. But all in all BMW suits me the most, and thats why I support them.

I always thought when a driver referred to "we" he referred not to the team but to his race engineer and mechanics.

Mclaren speak is English which you seem to have the hang of pretty well!what race did that happen in? wasnt it Alonso's second to last race for the team.. dont you think motions were in action by then as to whether Fernando would be a McLaren driver for much longer?

ahh but just jump on the bandwagon and just forget your own teams dismal record with team orders you see in Ferrari's Schumi era im sure Todt and Brawn when they thought talked of WE they inlcuded Rubens in that boys club.

Bud, I think more to the truth is that it was the first time Ron publicly let the cat out of the bag about his golden child.
But I would say Alonso sensed it way before this, probably just about the time he started his sucky baby antics.
