Art has a purpose, one of which is to make you consider its purpose, and a racing car that doesnt win also has a purpose assuming it tried to win

But pedantry aside I see where you are coming fromin that a car that doesnt win is not fulfilling any purpose and is just there like art

I would've thought a racing car which does not win has a very important purpose indeed....to create a winner. No one can win if they're the only car on track.
