Thus far I have seen no argument of anyone justifying the complete disinterest in context in Malaysia, and the massive "omg, context!" defense in Japan.
Different contexts in both races, sure, but dismissing any context one moment and crying over it the next, is as clear a double standard as they come.
But the fact that the context of the two situations is so very different, is the reason people come to differing conclusions about the incidents. You can't just disregard the circumstances around which people form their opinions.
