Seb was picking up about a half second a lap with 11 laps left. Webber about a 14 second lead. Do the math

This must have been the first time you heard of Pirelli tires and the cliff.
It's precisely this that cost Vettel the win 2 years ago. This time Vettel was prepared and pulled of great laps while saving his tires. Webber simply couldn't do that, which is known to be not one of his strong points.

I have to agree with WB on this one, it would have been far better for Webber to stay out and try to defend a lead than to have to gamble on being able to pass two cars on a track that isn't known for having loads of overtaking opportunities. His pace at the point he pitted wasn't bad (on any occasion), so I think they would have been able to stretch to a two-stop strategy, especially if they'd gone a couple of laps longer on the first stint.

...We can agree to disagree when you are willing to acknowledge these facts, and then make a reasonable case.
Saying "let's agree to disagree" at this point is nothing more than an indication that you are only willing to form your opinion based on how you want the outcome to be, not based on factual data.

Actually, when people agree to disagree, they stop the discussion!!
Because all opinions are valid, regardless what they are based upon,
it would seem you just need to have the last word. :P

So if I tell you it is my opinion that Fernando Alonso won the 2013 Japanese Grand Prix, you will accept it as a valid opinion?

Fernando Alonso has won the 2013 Japanese GP isnt an opinion, thats stating a fact.

Wait, what?
Have we gone so far in dismissing fact for fiction that you are now going as far as stating that as a fact?

Mnmracer do you genuinely not understand the difference between an opinion and a fact? Or are you confusing the meaning of the words?

All opinions are opinions I agree. All opinions however are not valid, a half hour browsing this or any other forum should be proof enough of that. :)

That would depend upon your definition of an opinion! Some opinions (such as professional/medical/legal) are based on fact and merit, thus may be considered objective to some extent; however, personal opinions can be based on emotion/experience/heritage etc., which makes them subjective and very different.

That is what I meant in saying that all opinions are valid, regardless of whether or not there is a general consensus.

Well, since you asked so nicely, I will respond. If you were to opine something so outlandish, I would be of the opinion that you'd had too much to drink, were on some weird psychedelic trip, or were trying to start an argument. :wavey:

I think your overuse of smileys is what convinced me to offer option number three!

Lol mmmmracer getting roasted as usual....mate just stick to posting up meaningless numbers and stats, you're good at that.

Ferrari man 009 says "Fernando Alonso has won the 2013 Japanese GP isnt an opinion, thats stating a fact".
He is the one who seems confused about the difference between opinions and facts.

If you are proud for me being 'roasted' due to ridiculous claims, false claims and ridiculous false claims, then you have really really really low standards. :loser:

Seriously are you on some sort of wind up or something, if you say something HAS happened, it is usually that you are stating a fact.

I said that I felt Webber WOULD have won had he stayed on a 2 stop - that is my OPINION

What the hell do you not understand?!?!?!?!?

Opinions without <3.141592> EDIT WB is just onions!

I am not so sure Mark would of won on a 2 stopper, I think he would of had issues with his tyres falling away

I'm not sure. I certainly believe that he could have gone longer than he did in his first and second stints, though I'm not sure how much longer, exactly. I'm going to stand by my belief that it would have been better to try to defend the lead than to retake it (especially since, nearing the end of the race, there was a significant gap back to the fourth-placed car).

The common sense mantra is that track position is an advantage seems to have been lost on some. if Webber had stayed on track nursing his tyres, there might have been a safety car, the guy behind him coulda spun off trying to overtake. definetely would make sense to defend and maybe give the place up, instead of dropping track position with a few laps to go.

its the type of nonsense Mclaren used to pull on Lewis
