Then why did heikki not get the same offer

Hamilton promised $4m supercar with title.
Lewis Hamilton has been promised a $4 million McLaren supercar for free - if he wins the world titles this year.

The 23-year-old British driver told The Sun newspaper that he first clapped eyes on the ultra-rare McLaren LM in the team's F1 factory ten years ago.

"When I first went to McLaren it was there and I fell in love with it," he said of the orange LM, one of only five such cars in the world.

Dennis, 60, says Hamilton can have the car if he wins the 2008 title, and McLaren is crowned constructors' champion.

"Fortunately, our deal gives me a bit of time to save up!" Dennis joked.

Hamilton currently leads the drivers' title from Kimi Raikkonen by three points, while McLaren sits five points ahead of BMW Sauber in the teams' standings.

That is one hell of car for winning the drivers title. I wonder if it deducts from Hamilton's paycheck, or he basically gets it for free for winning the title.

Now watch the fanboys regurgitate the "The drivers have equal equipment" line...

Yeh they probably will say Ron did not mean to say it or he was misquoted.
Just like this quote last year:
“We weren't racing Kimi, we were basically racing Fernando," McLaren boss Ron Dennis said on Sunday in explaining the team's delay to bring Hamilton in for new tyres”

Ron it looks like another one of those moments.

It is all a futile act by Ron Dennis. You see there is one small but major problem with this so called incentive. That is Kimi will be world driver champion again and Ferrari will be world constructors champion again, which basically means Lewis Hamilton is getting no McLaren Supercar free from Ron Dennis.

To be honest, this seems like a load of bitter Ferrari fans trying to stir it. You would have thought with the start of the season so far there would be enough for them to talk about. Although I don't think Hamilton should be given the car for free, certainly not if Kovalainen would not be given it if he won the drivers' title and McLaren won the constructors' title, the article (which has no source as well) has sensationalised the whole thing: do we know how this deal came about, for instance? Mike99 has also sensationalised the matter with the very title of this thread. The fact is Hamilton (or just about any other driver) does not an extra incentive to win and Kovalainen will have the same chances of Hamilton to go for the title.

Another Ferrari/Mclaren argument about a trivial matter. Kovi and Lewis will get the same chance to win the title even without the incentive of the Mclaren supercar to park in your driveway if you become champion

Force India are more likely to win both WDC (1st & 2nd) & WCC this year than the Sun newspaper printing a complete & accurate story.

McLaren Fan we already know you’re of higher intellect than all of us mere mortals  & now you’re even questioning peoples integrity.
Here is the source mate. http://en.f1-live.com/f1/en/headlines/news/detail/080327084228.shtml
Is it true. Who knows….. I don’t do you. :?:
But I think it’s a perfectly legitimate subject to bring up especially when something appears that flies in the face of everything the McLaren lambs bag Ferrari for. Just have a look at the To all Lewis'detractors , post it’s up to 8 pages.
And IF this story has even a hint of truth how can you not sit back an think – Wait a minute that does not sound right?

Wake up and smell the roses, they smell like Sh!t & there in your bed

The "we" in Kimi's comments mean what most of the "individual" sportsmen mean when they say "we". It means he acknowledges he's part of a team.

As for Lewis' offer... I think it all has been said before: Lewis has some kind of moral support the other drivers don't get. Even though they all get the same car and professional treatment. This is something Heikki accepts, as many other drivers would too, maybe for the sake of being in a frontrunner team. Alonso didn't; and I think he was right in doing so, even though I don't agree with the way he behaved (neither with the way he is behaving now), regardless of the way he drives.
