So Mclaren are after Kimi, oh too late, only after Red Bull and Ferrari have made the real moves

And they are after Alonso, oh it's too late, even though Ron himself wouldn't mind, it's not happening

And the best available, the hulk, oh he is too heavy, they could never afford an extra 0.02 sec penalty for a driver 0.5 quicker than the current. A driver with funds? Funds paid on time? Nah that's not good publicity. Alonso might be coming!!!!!

And there will be a 'news making' tech signing soon

Right after the new sponsor signs up!

Apart from the new sponsor, who does whitmarsh think suddenly believes this new dynamic go getting? most teams do then announce, or even deny till the guy starts, but whitmarsh? Tells us in advance that someone who is not Allinson or Lowe or Fry or Brawn or Costa has not left a top team yet but will suddenly do do and appear at Mclaren

Would have been more believable if he said a new Tp would be announced soon

Honda are not a works deal like the old days, after a year they will be supplying other teams, Mclaren will have to compete, words and promises won't beat the other Honda customers

would be logical given the recent arrivals at Ferrari, however the normal procedure would be for a top guy to leave first before his new team start shooting off. Whether Fry comes back or not, that is another sign of Whitmarshs Mclaren in a different ball game

Whoever said first 'we are signing a big name who hasnt yet left his top team?'

Pillow talk for the sponsors who are weighing up the current team and its prospects. No one says 'a guy is coming' till he has left

Not sure. Hammer. I've heard the rumours.....but still not sure. I cant see Whitmarsh saying we have headline grabbing news about a top technical person coming....then announcing....... it's Brawn.....to replace me. :P but then this is Whitmarsh we're talking about!

A good read here about it, the possibility of brawn as a lure to get Alonso back to McLaren. You have to scroll down a bit. Also speculation that button hadn't signed yet! he wants a two year but McLaren are offering one.

Im sorry RC, but I stopped taking the article seriously when it said this....

"Martin Whitmarsh is one of the more considered team principals in terms of what he says to the media. He also presents a public perception of believability and being fairly open and honest"

The only way Brawn is going to McLaren would be in a replacement Ron role, between Honda and the team. He wouldnt want to go back to trackside TP as a hired hand IMO, after clearing 100mill selling his ownership to Merc. It could be that he would spearhead a Honda investment into Mclaren in a similar fashion to Wolfe at Merc. But I do not see him leaving till the team have won a title at least. after that he has made no secret of his desire to step back from trackside.

He is a hired hand at Merc and that cannot be a lasting situation for a guy in his position and cash in the bank, if he stays in F1 I reckon he would be moving up the ladder and maybe buying in to a project. Maybe he along with Honda will buy Ron out. One thing for sure if Brawn ends up at Mac, its bye bye Button and Whitmarsh

In any industry outside fashion, that would be an alarming, borderline sexual misconduct scenario. Talking about disturbing how can we forget when Whitmarsh said to the press after a Jenson drive from poor quali position to podium in his first year at a far East track that he had promised 'to kiss Jenson, not just on the cheeks but inbetween' if he had actually won the race.

Thankfully the media did not press the question as to which cheeks

Well, to some of us who have been closely watching Whitmarsh, what he does and what he says, for the last three or four years, yes, we know how incompetent and ....other things...he can be. But to the casual observer he is Mr. Nice Guy. He does ' present a public perception of believability and being fairly open and honest' so I can see where thejudge is coming from.
This guy writes a lot of stuff, much speculation, but also a lot that I don't hear elsewhere. It's useful reading and you can sift out the bits you find interesting.
