I am truly sorry, it's just that there wasn't a this is an "opinion" disclaimer in your post, so it seems like you knew something we didn't know, or that you had your sources or had done some research to lead to you that conclusion. If it's your opinion then you're perfectly within your own right to hold to it, whether it's right or cuckoo for cocoa puffs. Please accept m apologies.

Not to worry!! I considered the source and realized that I was at fault for not being more clear that it was an opinion.
I usually say something like, "I haven't been around F1 as long as most of you; but, it would seem to me..."
Thus, 'tis I that should be apologizing to you!!

I've been saying all along that it was punishing clever design based around the tyres that they were given months before the start of the season. I know it was for safety but it just seems cruel for the people who worked hard to make a car that worked well with the original spec.

They should be blaming Pirelli then, not a let's blame the teams that benefited from the redesign sentiment that seems to be going on.

Agreed. Actually the team that benefited most is Mercedes. Red Bull / Vettel had already won 3 races pre-Silverstone and were leading both WCC and WDC when the decision was made to change the tyres. But Force India in particular and also Ferrari seem to have lost out.

Mercedes were not even close to being a threat in races pre-change....but Ferrari and Lotus were. Redbull fought for the change and managed to get Ferrari and Lotus of their backs and Mercedes jumped ahead of them. In the big picture, Redbull managed to get rid of 2 threats and gain zero, Mercedes are a solid 2nd best team right now, instead of probably 4th best with the original spec.

I'm tired with the tires...
I'm tired of having a manufactured degradation point that varies greatly in different temperatures, which compound is brought to which circuits dictating who wins on Sundays. I'm tired of teams choosing not do too many qualifying laps just to save rubber.

The idea was to try and mix things up in the pits since it was difficult to pass out on the track, but IMO it's not only back fired it's led to inconsistencies and it's degraded the drivers ability to DRIVE. So we're left watching drivers nurse their tires rather than watching the pinnacle of motor racing.

What we're losing out on is drivers being able to be aggressive, being able to push and being able to stick their nose in and go for a gap without the fear of going through a set of tires in three laps if they were to do that.

ESPNF1 Mark Webber has launched another attack on Formula One's quick-degrading tyres, saying it is up to tyre supplier Pirelli to make changes.

Webber has been critical of the tyres since the start of the season, which have been designed to degrade at a faster rate to spice up racing. Midway through the season Pirelli changed the construction of its tyres back to its 2012 specification in reaction to a number of tyre blow outs at the British Grand Prix, but the softer 2013 compounds, which degrade faster than last years, remained in an attempt to keep race strategy interesting.

At the Korean Grand Prix over the weekend all drivers struggled with wear on the right-front tyre due to the nature of the circuit and Sergio Perez suffered a delamination after locking up his right front so badly the tread unravelled on the following straight, with Webber having to take avoiding action behind. Pirelli has consistently pointed out that it was asked to produce quick-degrading tyres by the sport when it arrived in 2011, but Webber said the drivers needs are being overlooked in the pursuit of exciting races.

"That is how it is," he said. "The drivers aren't super important - it is what other people want. The tyres are wearing a lot and they also explode a bit. But that is for Pirelli to sort out.

"Pirelli will put the puncture of Perez down to a lock-up but the reason the drivers are locking up is because there's no tread left."

Pirelli motor sport boss Paul Hembery said Webber's complaints are nothing new and insists his company is capable of making longer-lasting tyres if the sport requests a return to one-stop races.

"There are two issues here that Mark is conflating," Hembery told the Daily Telegraph. "Firstly the situation with Sergio's tyre. It was nothing to do with delaminations earlier in the season. He had a major lock-up and flat-spotted.

"The other issue about degradation is the same old story. You can have a philosophical difference of opinion - as Michael [Schumacher] had last year - but we are only doing what we were asked to do, which is to create two to three stops per race. If they want tyres to last all race we can do that, too."

Lol Mark. One just knows he's going to join the legion of rose-tinted specs-wearers like Jacques Villeneuve and Eddie Irvine... "back in MY day..." :P

Thing is a mark is dead right. And he's one of the casualties of spectacle at the expense of racing.

Some people adapted. He didn't. This season he's been nowhere.

I agree, one has to wonder why when he's been Seb's equal in the past! even when carrying a severe injury.

Indeed. Grand chap, but it's time to move on now.

I couldn't agree more on all the above. And as much as I thought the battle between Nico/Lewis/Nando was riveting last weekend, I can only imagine how good it would have been had the 3 of them been totally unleashed and fully able to race to their max capabilities - rather than be bound by a front-right that would last one lap.

Having said all that, I still won't let go of how unfair it was that the rules were changed mid-season to advantage Red Bull and Merc and disadvantage Ferrari, Lotus and Force India. I believe there were other options available rather than simply giving exactly what Red Bull stipulated. Don't get me wrong on Red Bull though, I take my hat off to them on this one. Posturing and maneuvering for the best outcome is part of F1 and they did that better than the other teams when the tires debate was full swing and they were able to persuade others to follow their solution - well done to them in that regard. Ferrari were masters of that for many years and need to up their game. I think it is a weakness of SD.

Nah. They won't give him the secret TC either.

Comes back once again to the FIA's inability to run the show. Inadequate rules, retrospective rulings, rule changes mid season, jelly tyres, DRS :banghead::banghead:
