McLaren want Fernando Alonso to rejoin them next season and have made the Ferrari driver their prime target.

The Spaniard is unsettled at Ferrari and McLaren hope to persuade him to return to a team he drove for in 2007.

Asked if he wanted the double world champion, McLaren team principal Martin Whitmarsh said: "Yes - any team would. He's the best driver.

"I don't know his contractual situation. I assume he's under contract," he told BBC Sport.

Whoever at BBC wrote that article. Substitute Alonso for Raikkonen, Vettel or Hamilton and you could have written the same story. Where does Whitmarsh say "We will do everything in our power to sign Alonso"???

It's a bit sketchy, Benson always is though, it's like he want's to be EJ but with none of the inside knowledge so he makes this stuff up seemingly from thin air.

This is a really great interview, Brundle with Fernando. I love the bit where Brundle compliments Nando on his starts and Nando's response is something like this "in this type of maneuver you go from being genius to idiot very quickly"

Damn, I think my dislike for Alonso has decreased by 1.5% after watching this vid.
