Red Bull being so far ahead of everything else since the mid-season rule/tire change has definitely cruelled the fight for this years title. Credit to RB on their early season campaign, and, you still have to hand it to Red Bull and Seb in that they took that advantage and took off into the sunset with both titles.

But with Red Bull and the titles gone, it clears the decks for the real battle for the rest of the year - second place in both titles is still very much up for grabs. No-one can doubt that Seb has done everything necessary and has used his advantage well. But I don't think anyone could also argue that since the tire change, there is any way you could compare him to the other leading drivers. He has such an advantage that you just can't compare his abilities to the other main contenders - Nando, Lewis and Kimi. The same can be said in the constructors championship. Ferrari, Merc and Lotus is where the battle and real competition lies. What's more I think it is going to be fascinating. Whilst the Merc is the fastest car, the difference between it and the Ferrari and Lotus is small, and a driver can more than make up the difference.

So, I'm really looking forward to the last 5 races to see if Ferrari can hold off Merc and if Nando can keep what is tantamount to first place amongst the "competitive" cars.

Be interested to read peoples thoughts on who will prevail on both the driver and team side. Right now I'd have to say Nando will hold on amongst the drivers, and Merc look well placed to overhaul Ferrari. If Lotus can maintain consistency they they too could overtake Ferrari but I'm not sure if they can beat Merc.

I say Mercedes will beat Ferrari but both will end up quite some way ahead of Lotus. Lotus are pretty inconsistent, and Ferrari at least has 1 very consistent car finishing strongly in every race.

What about the drivers?

I think Alonso has a good cushion to keep 2nd place but it's not guaranteed. I think Lewis will get 3rd at least without too much trouble, 2nd will be a challenge though. Kimi will end up 4th and Rosberg will overtake Webber for 5th. This is what I expect to happen.

Mercedes have the faster car, but Ferrari have better reliability so it will be close. Points between Alonso and Hamilton will be similar in the last 5 races imo, however, I expect Rosberg to out score Massa therefore ive gone for Merc in P2. Lotus closed the gap on Sunday but before that they were slipping away. As for the drivers I cant see past Alonso finishing P2 unless he has a DNF somewhere.

Drivers
2. Alonso
3. Hamilton
4. Raikkonen

Constructors
2. Mercedes
3. Ferrari
4. Lotus

I concur with most people - 2nd place in the constructors is Mercs to lose.

As for drivers. My head tells me Alonso 2nd. I cant call 3rd/4th. It'll too close between Hamilton and Raikkoneenenenen (i cant be bothered to look up the correct spelling of his name. Sorry.)

Mercedes; fast car, two fast drivers.
Ferrari, fast car, one fast driver.
Lotus, slowest car, one inconsistent driver.

Merc to win the second WCC slot, Alonso and Hamilton's race to go down to Brazil. Frankly I don't care who wins it as long as it's good racing between the pair. In the end, it's fighting for second place, no one will remember it in a few years.
