Twas the night before Christmas
Twas the night before Christmas, Bernie turned away from the rain swept window. He always liked the view of Berchtesgaden from his friend Max's house. As Bernie turned, he swept the room with his monocular vision. Before him was a long table with thirteen seats. His gaze lingered on the seat farthest from the head of the table for it was the only vacant seat. He would miss Mr Pérez-Sala in his own way, Luis always made him laugh.
“Gentlemen” He announced bringing the room to silence. “We find ourselves here once again. I would like to thank you all one more time for an exciting 2012 championship. Oh and thank you for turning up at the end!” Bernie notioned to the far end of the table. All the team owners looked towards Fernandez and Booth who both sheepishly look back.
“Right then lets get to the business at hand, the auction for the 2013 world constructors championship.” This was the part that Bernie liked best, people giving him money! “Unfortunately only the Constructors championship is available this year. As you all know I had to give the 2013 championship to that Hamilton kid or he said he would leave the sport. So the Constructors championship, do I have a bid of 10 Millions Euros?”
When the bidding was over Bernie, grinned to himself, who would of guessed that Mercedes where so rich and hungry for it this year!

“Gentlemen, I have had to call you all together again, it is the end of May and to be quite honest Mercedes have put in a lackluster show.” Bernie looked around the room angry, he hated when people did not do what they were supposed to do. “Brawn, what do you need to get your car into a position where it could look like it could win the championship?”
Ross looks at his hand deep in thought “More mileage on these tires, we can qualify well, but we got through more rubber than a five dollar whore on race days”
Bernie stared at him, “I will see what I can do, I will speak to Paul”
“I don't think that is fair” a lone voice came from the silent room. Everyone turned to look at the owner of the voice. Horner sat with rage on his face before going on “We have spent millions of pounds designing a decent car for us to be nobbled because someone can not get their act together?”
Bernie growled back at him “You and your team will do as you are told, or you will be removed from the championship!”

“Gentlemen, again we have to have a meeting it is now the end of September, and someone is taking the pee out of me, out of my championship, out of MY SPORT!” Bernie had stood up while he anger built as he was talking. “Horner, we spoke about this! Then you let your boy shoot off at over 2 seconds a lap!”
Christian began to speak “I tried to stop him but....”
“But, but” Bernie shouted back “That insolent little boy is your employee, he should do what you say!”
Bernie sighed and sat down calming himself. Then quietly said “We will find a problem with your car, something like you are running illegal traction control, we will throw you out of this years championship. AND YOU!” he turned towards Brawn, “Get your cars good enough to beat the Italian fellows! After all they have already done a deal for next years championship”

that was a great read, made me laugh. But then I thought, hell, it's pretty much what happens!! Except Bernie does his deals behind closed doors rather than in an auction room.. I mean, we had the Ferrari veto, we had evil Max screwing the championship for McLaren in 07 "we'll take the constructors off you, you just make sure your boy doesn't win the drivers...fix it". We have boys who won't listen to the team. Team bosses who can't control their drivers. And that's just for starters!
