Ever considered taking it up again? There are some good refresher courses.

I stopped because women got in the way lol. As I live in oxford it is the furthest place from the sea in britain lol.

How did I end up here, I grew up by the sea!

Started in 2006 on a trip to Oz. I did the PADI OW course in the UK prior to that & followed-up with 8 dives along the Great Barrier Reef. That got me hooked and since then I have dived in Phuket, Bermuda, Red Sea, Maldives, Malta/Gozo, Cozumel, Philippines, Turks & Caicos, Belize, Sipadan, Truk Lagoon and Fiji. Next stop the Cayman Islands in January

I scuba dove once when I was about 16 or 17 off the coast of california at catalina island. I would love to do it again but I haven't ever really had the funds. And I live 400 miles away from the ocean!

But living in Phoenix, you are easy flight distances away from most of the Caribbean and Central American dive places. I am sure that they have PADI facilities in and around the city and once you are re-certified, you'll have plenty of choice.

You must mean Charles Kingsley's The Water Babies. I have read that one too.
