Not a great place to stop and definitely worthy of a reprimand for both. It's just unfortunate that it happened to be Webber's third. I imagine if Alonso had driven into the run-off area to collect Webber, it wouldn't have been a big deal.

I'm definitely getting tired of the boos for Vettel, it's kind of ridiculous.

There needs to be a poll. What are you sick of more? Vettel's winning or the boos against Vettel?

I'm not sick of Vettel winning. He's in a great car, he's driving well, so it's deserved. The other teams need to up their game. The boos, I am certainly sick of. It's pretty shameful from the fans, really.

But the thing I hate the most right now is that Formula 1 has some pretty serious issues that are simply not being addressed and it's actually causing me to lose interest.

Oh, and the booing of Vettel was worse than the stewarding today, I can understand at Monza - anyone who beats a Ferrari is booed, but in a neutral country I was quite angry at the booing, its not right. Well done to Martin Brundle for telling them to stop though!

One of the commentators said that 8% of residents in Singapore are British and that might explain the booing. But whoever is doing it, it is now counter-productive because it is acting as a catalyst to Vettel into better performances. The fools who boo should stop to think who's having the last laugh.

I don't think the nationality makes any difference, there was booing in Canada and Italy too, even some in Belgium. It's not even the constant winning, it's how he just walks away with it making no fights or interesting battles at the front, people don't like that and that's why people started leaving F1 (spectators) and we got stupid DRS to combat the results of the schumi years (less fans because of less interesting racing) hell people used to boo Schumacher in the day too so it's nothing new.

shouldn't these people boo'ing be boo'ing the guys who have dropped the ball (ie all the other teams and drivers) and not the guy and team who has got his s*** together?!?

Belgium wasnt at Vettel - that was aimed at the protesters who tried to disrupt the podium ceremonies!

Just finished watching the race and updating the pool results. awful call by Mercedes to not bring in Nico and Lewis during the safety car, it was that stratergy alone that allowed Alonso and Raikonnen to get theri podium, but a podium is a podium is a podium so congratulations to all. Vettel and his quadruple WDC looks to be as sure a thing as high schooler getting lucky on prom night.

I dont think what Alonso and Webber did was as serious as has been made out by the stewards - If Hamilton cant avoid that at 50MPH he shouldnt be a racing driver!

Thanks for that!! After seeing it from this angle, I have to agree, it was NOT
nearly as dangerous as the onboards seemed to present it as!

Once again proving that's it's all about perspective!!

Disagree, I think they still made the right call. No way they could've made their tyres last that way the way Ferrari and Lotus could...probably get even more fallen apart and would've been lucky to hold on to 5th and 6th anyway.

I think that this has to be the only sport where a person domitating his competition is booed. I mean, when Barcelona or Manchester United smash everyone are they booed? When Donald Bradman, Wayne Gretzsky, Tiger Woods, Roger Federrr or Muhammed Ali dominated their chosen sports, where they booed and jeered as much?

No, because these guys/clubs work for themselves and don't have the luxury/curse of stealing wins & achievements from their teammates since they don't have any. :)

See what I mean? Worse than pathetic. Grasping at any straw to make a point that does not exist.

The Vettel boos are in the same nonsensical league as the daily "Death to America!" rants at the parliament of a certain Middle Eastern country.

Right....I can't even remember Schumacher having boos following him around the world when he was dominating, only when he stole wins of Barrichello from time to time but only due to TEAM ORDERS, never by his own will VS his teammate's. Subtle but significant difference. Call it what you will.

Webber gets a penalty for getting a lift, wow.

I thought it was a stupid penalty at first, but looking at this footage, Alonso seems to have got off lightly for what was a very dangerous thing to do. Watch out for Rosberg's car coming around.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UXMCLiAvzg8#t=50

But the penalty wasn't for the lift. The lift got him a reprimand. It was his 3rd reprimand that got him the grid penalty.

I know that. But I felt that in Alonso's case, as the driver who stopped the car in that spot, even a first penalty should have been much harsher. There are posts and links in other forums where they say that a similar gesture in a FP2 race or something caused an accident.

Rosberg definitely was taken by surprise and had to flick his car out of the way. If you think about it, all drivers would have discharged adrenaline at the end of the race and will be driving in an "auto" mode, their concentration no way as sharp as during the race. There could have been a needless accident and injuries.

Yeah sorry , I guess I was quoting the wrong person, and should of been quoting NinChin direct.

I agree that Alonso should of been given a harsher penalty than Webber. That was a dumb bottom place to stop his car.
