WTF IS THIS SH!T????

Webber punished after hitching lift with Alonso
...According to an FIA notification Webber broke Article 30.9 (b) of the sporting regulations after he "entered the track without the marshal's permission between the commencement of the formation lap and the time when the last car enters parc ferme."

Alonso also received a reprimand because he "drove the car in a manner which could be deemed potentially dangerous to other drivers or any other person. In this case, two cars had to take avoiding action as a result [of Alonso stopping to pick Webber up]."

Paranoid mode on:

They reprimanded Webber just so they could give Alonso a reprimand!!

Paranoid mode off!

Did anyone else feel the coverage of this race was pretty annoying? Like, showing all the lights and the stupid Marina Bay over and over again when the race was going on....especially the last 10 laps they seemed more interested in showing what singapore looked like instead of letting us watch the race!!

Today was the best race I have ever seen Vettel drive - and that's saying something! When the safety car came out it would have been easy for him to get frustrated and struggle, but to pull out that gap - WOW! :) He decimated the entire field.

He is definitely NOT a one-hit wonder!!

When you have a car which is 2 seconds quicker than the next guy, I don't get how this was a great accomplishment. Almost anyone on the grid would know how to regroup and go as fast as the car would let you go?

You can't be that biased / naive surely? The car is very very good indeed, but Vettel is the one dragging every single ounce of potential out of it. I'm sorry, but today, nobody should be downplaying how good that performance was from him - and the scary thing is that I genuinely think he could have gone quicker had he needed to...

Webber gets a penalty for getting a lift, wow.

I thought it was a stupid penalty at first, but looking at this footage, Alonso seems to have got off lightly for what was a very dangerous thing to do. Watch out for Rosberg's car coming around.

But the penalty wasn't for the lift. The lift got him a reprimand. It was his 3rd reprimand that got him the grid penalty.

The power of a car 2 seconds a lap faster than then next best is an amazing thing. Newey was very modest when they interviewed him post race, but he is a master. Given the instrument, Seb has done all he had to do with it.

But... TWO seconds a lap faster? How is that even possible, unless there's some "hanky-panky" going on?

No matter how well Newey or anyone else designs a racing car, it is impossible to design one that is by itself so far above the rest, given the current extremely rigid rules under which they have to operate. Newey is as human as the next designer and what he can do, other designers can, maybe even better. Therefore, logic would state that in this case a great car is being driven by a great driver and hence the difference you are seeing on the track. Saying that there is some hanky-panky going on simply because you cannot bring yourself to accept this simple truth is juvenile.

There have been and will be races where the Ferrari or Merc will function better than the Red Bull and that's because on certain tracks and under certain conditions Alonso, Hamilton or one of the others will have a better package (which includes the everything concerned - car, driver, track etc). To say that Vettel's wins are mainly due to Newey is as bigoted as it is stupid.

Big Azza, 3double8 and I were in the chat, watching the race "together"! Big Azza hoped Vettel lapped everyone.
I'm afraid you're both right... the potential may be there!! More probable at a shorter track, I guess??

And, you sir, can just calm down now! It was a "facetious" comment, as I am well aware of Vettel's talent!
In case you hadn't noticed, I used the  to temper my comment!!

I know that. But I felt that in Alonso's case, as the driver who stopped the car in that spot, even a first penalty should have been much harsher. There are posts and links in other forums where they say that a similar gesture in a FP2 race or something caused an accident.

Rosberg definitely was taken by surprise and had to flick his car out of the way. If you think about it, all drivers would have discharged adrenaline at the end of the race and will be driving in an "auto" mode, their concentration no way as sharp as during the race. There could have been a needless accident and injuries.

Ah, I understand now... You're a Ferrari fan; but, your favourite driver is Vettel!
No wonder you bit my head off in that earlier post and it's no wonder you are now
criticising Alonso!

I'm sure you've mentioned it before; but, I'm just now connecting the dots!! :wavey:
