New Jersey definitely out of 2014 Calendar.

Good!

Shame. New Jersey sounded like it would be a blast.

Really? Another featureless street circuit with next to no overtaking. Plus, 1 GP in the US is more than enough.

Some street circuits compensate by having a tremendous atmosphere. I feel NJ would have been one such example.

Would you not rather see F1 race where there is action on the track?

Well yes of course.

Albert Park has often produced a cracker. Singapore nearly ALWAYS delivers, and as for Monaco... sometimes good, sometimes sh!t.

ESPNF1 Organisers of the Grand Prix of America in New Jersey are unfazed at being left off the provisional 2014 calendar and stress that work is continuing for a race next year.

The race alongside the Hudson River has been targeting an inaugural race in 2014 ever since it was left off the 2013 calendar due to missing payments and slow progress in preparing the street circuit. However, next season's provisional 21-race calendar did not feature the New Jersey race when it was leaked at Monza earlier this month, leading to suggestions that the race would fail to make the grade yet again.

However, in an interview with PA Sport race promoter Leo Hindery said that the problem stems from a missing sanctioning fee owed to the national sporting authority, ACCUS, that is due to be paid on September 20. The report says that when the payment is made the FIA World Motor Sport Council will be able to add the round to the calendar at a meeting the following week.

"We never had any expectation of being on a preliminary schedule," Hindery told PA Sport. "But it took on a life of its own because so many of us are aspiring to be on the calendar that haven't been there before - ourselves, Russia, Mexico, and with Austria also returning.

"In our particular case we were told not to do anything but stick to the date of the September 20, which we intend to do. Bernie told us if we stayed consistent with the rules and applications then he would expect there to be a New Jersey race.

"Time-wise, we have done everything we have been told to do, and when to do it. The calendar decision will be made later this month, and although I can't guarantee anything, we fully expect to be on it."

Hindery added that the construction of the pit and paddock complex is "in hand" and that financially the project "expects to meet all of our obligations".
