Felipe Massa has revealed he also has an eye on a race seat at McLaren.

The Brazilian told the broadcaster O Globo that he will not be playing a supportive role for Ferrari 'number 1' Fernando Alonso for the balance of his career with the fabled Italian team.

"No, I won't be doing that," said the 32-year-old, who has been told he is being replaced by former teammate Kimi Raikkonen after November's 2013 finale.

"I'm going to attack," Massa promised.

He is hoping that attack is the springboard to another top car, having already ruled out continuing his career with a back-of-the-grid team.

"We're negotiating with Lotus and it's going well," said Massa. "They have a competitive car, which is what I want.

"We are also in contact with McLaren, but this is more difficult to judge," he added, referring to the British team that is yet to announce its current drivers, Jenson Button and Sergio Perez, are definitely staying put in 2014.

One driver not clinging onto his similarly-long F1 career is Mark Webber, who is swapping his Red Bull cockpit for a Porsche prototype for 2014.

The 37-year-old Australian told F1 Racing magazine that finding the right time to stop is a difficult task for any sportsman.

"I'm probably leaving F1 a year too soon but with the (regulation) changes next season and the opportunity to join Porsche, it's the best move for me," said Webber.

:rofl::rofl::rofl:

 Massa gets canned and now he decides to attack? Well he said he was going to attack at the beginning of the year and

He said he was going to attack in order to get a contract for 2014 and NADA

And now he gets :flamethrower: and is going to attack? Well what happened the prior two promises  this year alone?

Massa :banghead: is full of hot air :yikes: that is why he is putting all those stories about Lotus and McLaren. I bet that before the week is out he will link himself to Mercedes :wavey: and Red Bul :wavey: . Ferrari could have easily put him into Sauber for 2014 but it is clear Ferrari has had enough of Massa's :bs: and his traveling posse :lurker:

Unfortunately post-09 Felipe has become a bit of a karakature in some ways, but whether he secures a seat next year or not, I will always remember him for his 2008 form.

I think he could get a seat, if he swallowed his pride. I am sure any team in yhe back half of the grid would snap him up.

So he is in talks with McLaren AND Lotus...Interesting, I will still root for Massa as my number one driver, but Ferrari will always be my team and my home :P

Plus Sergio is contracted with McLaren next year...Are they seriously thinking of getting rid of JB? He is not contracted for next year

Though I'd love to see Massa have a fresh start, my first concern is that Hülkenberg gets his top seat.

Never know, there still are a few intelligent people at McLaren....and Whitmarsh might have got a good knock or two on his head to think a bit about what's best for the team. Not making a decision on Button's a good first step...so far.

Agreed!

Why would Lotus be interested in Massa?
Why would McLaren be interested in bringing back Alonso when he screwed them up in 2007?

Massa is an interesting and great driver. He's not on terms of your Marussia drivers and he can bring some money to the team

The answer is the same for both questions... their driver pairings aren't so hot at the moment or for 2014 and they're looking for someone they feel can give them an edge.
