It'll work until they start taking points off of each other. ....

They may take points off each other, but either way Ferrari will still get those points, and that's Ferrari's main concern (imo).

True but if there is a chance of a 1/2 finish and the drivers are scrapping over who finishes ahead for a 3/4 finish someone else will get the upper hand.

I mentioned this before. With Raikkonen & Alonso in the team, Ferrari certainly should be the favourites for the WCC. It does not matter which of those two gets the points.

But they could end-up scrapping each other out of WDC contention if Vettel or Hamilton have competitive cars. One thing is certain, Ross Brawn will be quick to realise this and will definitely have clear cut #1 & #2 for his drivers for 2014. If one of those two drivers comes out significantly in front of the other by the end of the 2013 season, IMO he will be nominated as the #1. but if it not that obvious, they will probably agree to decide at some fixed point in the next season.

Everyone seems to think Alonso is not a quali specialist, so will kimi rattle him on saturdays and the carries over for the rest of the weekend

I don't think Ferraris line up is any better than Mercedes, and Mercedes does not run the risk of imploding. I think both Ferrari and Mercedes will assess things at half season and if they need to put might behind the leading driver, Im sure they both will. But non of those four drivers will accept ( and nor should they) number two status from the off. I think of the four involved, actually only Alonso would want that.

I didn't mention "knickers"!! Jabby did!! :hehe:

True. But you sounded shocked that Jabs wore underwear whilst watching F1, which can only leave me to believe that you dont.

In all honesty, some races start in the wee hours of the morning (1:00 - 2:00... 4:00), so I'll still be in pjs!!

OK but is there not the danger that half season might be a bit late? What if by then Vettel has won 5 races, has an appreciable lead in the WDC, looks to have a competitive car and has some of his 'stronger' circuits to follow? (it can happen  )

What people "think" has to jibe with the facts. Massa beat Kimi in qualifying with regularity. Alonso beat Massa with regularity, therefore you can draw a conclusion that's pretty safe IMO.

Alonso beat Massa with regularity post hit on the head.

Anyway it does seem Kimi isn't too hot on Saturdays anyway seeing as Grosjean is giving him more trouble than anticipated, on Saturdays at least. And Alonso isn't a 1 lap specialist either. So it will be interesting to see.

In think Alonso will generally have the edge in driving but Kimi will definitely have it psychological. So long as Kimi is given a level playing field ( I don't think he'd accept anything less), then he'll turn up, drive the car to its limit, and if he finishes ahead, all well and good, if he doesn't , ' oh well, that's life' ,takes his pay check and gets on with the next race. Nando however I think will start to come apart and make demands and throw toys if he doesn't get the upper hand..........which is why it is all so exciting!!!

I agree about the psychological bit. Raikkonen's successes can put pressure on Alonso but not the other way around.

That is a good point.

But I do feel that if that situation arises in a race, Ferrari will have no qualms about team orders. And if a driver fails to follow those orders, Ferrari (unlike other teams) will have the balls to reprimand their drivers.

The trouble is that one driver doesn't give a sh!t and the other has a God-complex.

I think it'll be:

Engineer: Kimi, Fernando is faster than you.
Raikkonen: No.

I was working under the assumption that Raikkonen had come out of his shell a bit. :hehe:

He only does that to eat ice cream.

Engineer: Fernando said he will eat all the ice cream if you do not pull over.

We saw what the other way around is, not giving two craps because the pay checks still get cashed one way or the other and quietly (without complaints) come in second to Massa.

Well I guess if he isn't allowed to be challenged from the off , and he has the best car, then there is a distinct possibility that that could happen .....but how sweet the victory if against all that the guy in the other car wins :P The Red Bull advantage may not be so great next year

I have no way of knowing for certain what will happen next year, nor will I bother to speculate about what will or won't happen.
I can only hope Ferrari and the Tifosi will enjoy the ride, once the green lights go out!!
