Just as it says...

Our mainstream newspapers over here have very quickly degraded to being completely bias, particularly when it comes to politics. Also the sports writers like to create scandals out of absolutely minuscule events.

It seems like television news is now much better, so I've started using Yahoo 7, because it is attached to a TV station. But Yahoo is not really a dedicated news site.

Even the TV stations in the past have been mainly interested in scare-mongering tactics, particularly swine-flu pandemic, which didn't turn out to be such a pandemic after all.... Even all the way back in the 70's with the Azaria Chamberlain story in Australia, the wide population were lead to believe that Lindsay was responsible for her murder and that she had somehow sacrificed her as part of a religious cult. So this scare-mongering and bias has been going around for a long time.

I've tried searching for some independent online news outlets, but all they're focused on is bashing the other newspapers and article after article about how bias they are.

So should I just resign myself to not even bothering with news again, or is there something that just reports on the facts?

If you want facts, stick to the nat geo and discovery channels....media's purpose is to twist opinions, perspectives, debates, and squeeze every last bit of juice out of any piece of news they can get. They have a P&L account to worry about too!

Russia Today is good.

When that came out on Freeview my mum said "I like Russia Today, very un-bias."

My dad replied "Their really unbias if you're a raving Russian Communist who hates everything western." :hehe:

It's ok as long as you don't mention the Bloodhound Gang and flags.

What? Too soon? :hehe:

Get out there and make your own news, don't read about somebody else.

It does help to keep somewhat up to date about foreign affairs. Case in point I currently would not book a holiday to Syria.

I'd suggest a cheap holiday now before the Americans put up the prices.
