OMG, I thought Hamilton was going to burst into tears, after Q2. Damn he acts like a little child who doesn't get his own way.

Montezemelo is furious, is this the day that effectively ends Massa's Ferrari career?

My respect for Massa just increased quite a bit today. What a ballsy move, in front of the Italian crowd at home, without a contract next year, he gives the finger to the puppet masters at Ferrari and drives away from the No.1, outqualifying him. Well done Sir, well done. You can now retire with more self dignity than Barrichello at least.

I didn't think of it that way until I read this! Now I'm curious if he did that on purpose or if beating alonso was an accident :rofl::rofl: Us folks in the U.S. don't get post-quali interviews, except for the top 3, and then coverage ends :( so maybe massa admitted it in an interview I didn't get to see?

either way Massa is dead man walking at Ferrari. He was either being loyal but was too useless to stick to the right delta etc

or he was indeed digging his own grave with one hand whilst sticking the middle finger up at the Tifosi with the other

An interesting session to say the least. Excellent work by Red Bull, both team and drivers. An outstanding effort by Hulkenberg. I know he has speed, but it is a surprise to see a Sauber that far of the grid. Maybe too much is being made of the Ferrari "failure", 4th and 5th on the grid is better than I expected. Both Mercedes and Lotus must be disappointed though.

Should be interesting tomorrow. That first corner invites mayhem and if Webber has his customary poor start, all hell could break loose. On top of that, we have the potential for rain. Can't wait!

Not a bad Q for SF really, but the reality is they, along with all the rest are fighting for 2nd place. Red Bull have done another great job yet again and it's clearly their race to lose.

Listened to Nando's radio - think there are a few media desperate to beat this into something.I took it that he thought the tow idea was lame and was letting the team know it.

Vettel sulks more than Lewis and how would you know Nicole and Lewis are back together? FYI, she's doing an overrated show called X Factor right now

Adrian Sutil has been handed a three-place grid demotion for impeding Lewis Hamilton during qualifying for the Italian GP.

The Force India driver will start Sunday's race from 17th after being adjudged by the Monza stewards to have blocked Hamilton at the conclusion of Qualifying Two.

Hamilton was subsequently eliminated for the session and will line up just 12th after claiming pole position for each of the last four races.

Sutil was also handed a drive-through penalty during June's Canadian GP after ignoring blue flags and holding up Hamilton, who was running in second place at the time, for ten corners.

Rightly or wrongly, both incidents will inevitably be linked to the history between Sutil and Hamilton: Having been close friends with the Englishman at the outset of their F1 careers, Sutil announced last month that he had "lost all respect" for Hamilton after the 2008 World Champion did not testify at his trial for assault four years ago.

As a result of Sutil's punishment, Williams' Pastor Maldonado, the second Force India of Paul di Resta and Sauber's Esteban Gutierrez have all been promoted a place on the grid.

Can't you tell the difference between someone who is upset and angry with himself and someone who has 'not got their own way?' He was pissed with himself for not maintaining his own high standards and letting the team down. Nothing to do with not getting his own way.

I just posted this on Hamilton thread, more appropriate here maybe

He wasnt driving like an idiot, his car was hampered. He hit the kerb in Q2, easy mistake when pushing. So if he thought he was suddenly too slow he might cheer up

Lewis Hamilton's performance in qualifying for the Italian Grand Prix was hurt by damage to his car's floor, Mercedes boss Ross Brawn has said.

The Briton failed to make Q3 for the first time since the 2010 Malaysian Grand Prix, finishing down in 12th position after saying he had driven like an 'idiot'.

Brawn revealed afterwards that Hamilton had damaged his car's floor earlier in the session, and was losing performance as a result.

He said the team found the problem too late to fix it.

"Lewis was looking OK, but unfortunately he hit a kerb and damaged the car's floor," Brawn said after qualifying.

"We didn't realise the consequences of that until a bit later in the session.

"It was irreparable, so that was unfortunate as well. It just wasn't our day. We have to try to do a better job."

Brawn admitted it had been a poor day for Mercedes after Nico Rosberg had been hindered by a problem in Saturday morning's practice session.

"It definitely wasn't a great day for all of us today," he added.

"We had a reliability issue with Nico in the morning, which meant we lost most of the session, and to me Monza is always about confidence for the driver.

"I think losing that amount of time was always going to be difficult and it meant we didn't really have a great balance on Nico's car during qualifying. That wasn't great."

I spoke to a fellow Vettel fan at work today who think di Resta could end-up in teh 2nd Ferrari. Much that I'd like to see di Resta in a top team, I dout it'll happen.
