The booing had NOTHING to do with him being German, I would say.

Agreed...my guess is because of the b!tch move Vettel made on Webber in Msia...and Webber is GB's adopted son after all.

He's asked about it, he comments that it surprised him.
Someone who's sensitive about it doesn't go to the afterparty and tells the crowd if they're gonna boo, they should do it properly.

It would have happened to any other driver, and he has been booed before, whats so sensitive about Silverstone

Maybe, maybe not. If the general crowd reactions in the UK are anything to go by (for example, the greater 'fallout' of football defeat by Germany than any other team), I get the feeling that Vettel's nationality indeed had something to do with it.

But either way you cannot blame someone in Vettel's position for being sensitive about the booing.

It was a traditional sporting British crowd, they did the same with Schumacher. The British hate the Germans but love to buy their cars - go figure that one out. Spending a small fortune to go to a GP and then have the lack of maturity to applaud a winner for a job well done (even if it's not the guy you were rooting for) really speaks volumes of GP attending Brit's. I know this is a bit of a generalisation but as usual a minoroty ruins it for the majority.

Button and Hamilton were both jeered when they crashed first lap while I was at Spa in 09.
Hamilton was booed on the podium at Monza last year.
Every Australian GP I've been to has had jeering to certain drivers from certain fan bases.

To single out the British for having some kind of specific human condition that no other nationality has would be rather silly.

Speak for yourself.

I don't hate the Germans but a lot of less intelligent people do. I work with someone who refers to Vettel as a Nazi or Kraut. Nice guy though, just our F1 views differ.

The British were mentioned as it was the British GP so there will be a mainly British audience at the track. plus it's the only place were Vettel's been booed this season.

They booed him in Canada as well.

Less intelligent? Hatred has no direct correlation to intelligence and more to do with bigoted parents passing on their views.

Let's not always blame the Mamas and the Papas!! Society, especially in the guise
of friends and the media plays such a huge part in how and what our children learn.

Smoking is an example. You may have two parents who don't smoke, yet their child
takes up the habit.

You may have parents who are "drinkers" and a child who's a teetotaler!

YES, parents have the greatest impact on a child's education/upbringing; but, it doesn't
last long...enough!!

Booing is a rather harmless extension of the freedom of speech laws, that allows expression of one's feeling without having to articulate them in a more thoughtful manner. It happens in all sports, in all countries, well at least those that allow freedom of expression. As long as it stops there and does not degenerate into throwing things, or making derogatory comments about his race, ethnicity, culture, religion or sexual orientation I see no real harm. I mean it's not very nice and I wouldn't do it, but it's not as bad as beating your 6 year-old for messing up their lines in the school play. Seb should perhaps consider talking to Kyle Busch for some coping strategies, if it really bothers him. :wavey:

So, all British (except Andrew) hate Germans?

Just because you work with people like that, doesn't mean the whole of Great Britain feel the same. I would say people at the the British GP booed Vettel for a number of reasons, but mainly:

a) they are bored of him winning all the time
b) they very much dislike him because of his attitude in the beginning of the season, to Webber (who is a very much loved local boy).

If the British GP fans were German hating xenophobes as you claim, then why don't they hate on (or boo) Rosberg - who actually won that race?

Why? Because he is generally seen as a pretty nice guy.

Nothing to do with Nationality, and all to do with Personality.

Quid pro quo, he means it would be near impossible to find anyone in Britain who hates Germans :hehe:
