I think the governments of the world are in a no win situation

The problem is obvious atrocities that are going on in Syria, with neither of the sides being any more "right" than the other. Attacks on civilian population cannot be tolerated though. However there is no reason for the US or the UK or any other Western or Asian country to be the ones driving the charge for some type of direct involvement. Why we cannot empower the Arab League of Nations to intervene and restore order is beyond me.

If we (anyone other than Syria) do nothing, people will complain about the atrocities.
If we put some boots on the ground, people will complain that we are sending our troops to fight another war that has nothing to do with us.

in my opinion any government that is willing to do that to its on citizens should be removed from power. I am also upset that Britain in this case has become the screaming woman in the crowd shouting "Oh My God someone do something"

Do we have any proof who carried out this horrendous attack? Was it the government? Could it have been the rebels? Could it have been the Israeli's? Maybe that should be established conclusively before there's talk of going in.
I think that's why Cameron lost the vote, he jumped the gun.
